Race Season midweek maintainance workouts

Hi TR community,

I have just begun my road race season in the UK. I am racing pretty much every weekend now until June, with some midweek crits and time trials thrown in there as well.

I’m just wondering what everyone’s favorite race season maintenance workouts are? i.e., the ones that keep you feeling sharp and able to hit those top-end numbers.

Currently, I am doing one anaerobic (15/15s) and one VO2 workout (2/3 min VO2 intervals) a week between races, with two longer Z2 rides also. What are others doing, and do you have any advice?

Hmm, in a week with 2 races I would be very careful with adding too much extra intensity. For me, I mostly race crits with the rare road race so the focus outside of races is to keep volume up, maintain longer threshold workouts, and recovery.

The races themselves are probably doing a decent job at maintaining the top end

I didnt know this existed. Very cool how it was almost exactly what OP was looking for.
