Predicted FTP looks too high - what's going on

Hello, there looking for some crowd wisdom. I recently had an increase in FTP from 411 to 484. AI FTP is now predicting 580 at the end of the current training month. I would estimate my actual FTP to be around 400 give ot take, but so far have been able to complete the workouts it’s given me at 484. That said, they have been VO2max and endurance efforts, and the endurance ones have been more tempo physiologically than I might have chosen.

Seeking some wisdom that this will settle down, and I have not found any weird bugs. I am 47, train around 10 hours a week, and have been training semi-seriously for about 4 years, but have recently increased my volume a little.

I am not sure at all about what’s going on, but I am enjoying being able to put more power down for longer, so it’s slowly improving my race results, even though I am curently 93/94kg.

Any wisdom gratefully received!

Hey there,

We currently have a bug that affects a handful of athletes in and around the 400 club with really high FTPs.

It essentially wants to pull those athletes’ FTPs up even higher. I’d recommend continuing on with your workouts and rating them as the work actually feels. If you run into a situation where the workout was clearly not the right fit for you, let me know, and we can work on getting you back on track.

Nice job knocking out Surry with a 484 FTP! :exploding_head:

Cheers will do, currently in the stretching and doable stage, it will be interesting to see where I end up, but it’s not going to be 580; I’d be quite happy to stay at 484 for a few months going through a whole training cycle again. Thanks again.

Stay in touch! I want to ensure that your training remains productive. :+1:
