Is there a way to build your training plan around events using the planbuilder? I would like to tell it I will be racing cyclocross every Sunday for the next 12 weeks, and then have it build my plan around that. There doesn’t seem to be an option to do this, or am I missing something?
You can add those events to your calendar beforehand, or when you start with Plan Builder.
If you have any one race that’s your focus, make that your A race. If they all hold the same importance to you, I’d just make the last one your A race. The others should be B and C races. Here is an article on prioritizing your races.
Not really what I’m after. I think it would be great if you could add a weekly event before AI suggests your plan. I do Tuesday road races all spring and summer and cyclocross races all fall. So If you could open a new plan and tell it, I’m going to race every Sunday before you tell it the training approach. Then when it creates the plan it would give you the correct hard, medium, easy days around it.
The way it is now, it “randomly” creates types of days. Like: Rest, Hard, Easy, Rest, etc for the days of the week. So I always have to move the days around to what I think will work with racing every Sunday, or whatever day.
It would also be cool if you could add other things before it builds your week. Like I would like to tell it for my summer plan, that I we do team rides on Saturday and I run on Thursday. That way it wouldn’t give me a hard day on say Friday or Sunday.
Does that make sense?
This might be a better way to achieve what you’re looking for. Then you could just make one of your final races an A race. With B and C events, we don’t build a taper. B races have the option of openers, and C races simply become a part of your training plan, so you’re not really missing out on much this way.
Then you’d just need to build your schedule to work well with your typical race week. If your races are often on different days of the week, you might have to move things around from time to time depending on what you’re after, but this has never really caused an issue or been a hassle for me.
Let me know if this helps.
And if you go the route of adding each race as an event individually, then yes, you should have been asked to enter them in before you got to that schedule step. It looks like you picked a goal-based plan rather than an event-based one in your image. You could go back to that step by clicking on the “Goal” with the green check above it near the top.
