On a training plan, and did an 'extra' outside ride with some friends

On a training plan, and did an ‘extra’ outside ride with some friends…
TR has the ride (uploaded from Strava) but I understand that it doesn’t take outside rides into account for progression levels (yet?).
Is there any value in trying to match it to some random outside ride or should I just ignore the outside ride and keep on going with my next indoor ride? Note, there was no ride scheduled for today… I just wanted to go ride with my buddies.

I wouldn’t match it to a random workout to get a progression - I only do this if it was a workout, ie ride with a specific goal and protocol in mind.

A ride with friends is just fun

Thanks JoeX. It was fun, but hard! Just didn’t know if there was value (for adaptations as an example) to somehow take it into account. Perhaps the effects of these rides will reflect on my workouts and that is how TR will adapt to them.

TR will interpret unstructured rides I believe for automatic FTP detection, though this may be imperfect.

TR also analyses the ride and add the TSS to your calendar. So the stress you’ve been under is accounted for.

Progression levels though are a measure of your progress through a workouts/plan really, so if you have not done something in plan then it doesn’t make sense to show progress.

Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying!
