Nap time on physical days

Just wanted to share a nice tip that’s been working well for me. I’ve read about people doing 2-a-day workouts, where they fit in a nap mid-day for recovery. While I’m not at that level yet, if I end up with a random high stress load day due to outdoor work or other unforeseen physical strain, I’ve found that pushing my workout to the evening and fitting in a nap does wonders for recovery. I wouldn’t say the legs get back to 100%, but I feel much fresher and have a better quality workout than just trying to push through on tired legs.

Some of my strongest late afternoon or evening rides have been after an early afternoon nap.

Can someone tell my boss please?

Does your boss care about your physical performance?

I take a nap whenever I can, and manage at least 3 or 4 naps a year.

That’s probably the rate I can get away with too… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

A ~20 minute nap in the afternoon is hard to beat. Here’s what the interweb has to say -

honestly if i could just take a break at work it would be nice but alas, i have plan bathroom stops even.

I may have to try a very strict 20 minute nap and see how it works.

One thing I noticed once my 30’s hit is typically a nap can absolutely wreck the subsequent night of sleep. As much as I used to love naps, the impact on my sleep wasn’t worth it. I find that happens if I sleep too much as well. 7-8 hrs is perfect. Much past 8.5 and it can make the following nights sleep a bit poor.

You should limit naps to max 20-30min and no naps past 4pm.
