Anyone try Simple Mobility Method(SMM) by Tom Morrison? I feel like the rest of my body has been too achy so should work on mobility exercises. Its a one time purchase seems cheaper then the pliability app at ~$180 a year (seems like the company behind Pliability bought RomWod) or The Ready State at $155.88/year. Do kind of want a TR type of app in that it tells me what to do each day and measures my progress to pick the right workout/stretch for what I need wich isn’t really SMM
You might consider a Peloton App subscription ($12.99/mo) as they’ve got a bunch of yoga and stretching classes. And you wanted to there are tons of other classes to consume around strength training & meditation. I’ve been using it for yoga classes and feel like it has made a ton of difference for me and my historically bad lower back.
In terms of measurement, I can share that it is pretty straightforward to detect improvements. After a a few weeks I noticed quite a few stretches and positions had become significantly easier.
If anyone signs up, I highly recommend the yoga classes by Denis Morton.
As my understanding is that there is zero good research showing the benefits of mobility work - I’m not saying it isn’t important [I try and do it 4x week] - I think you would get just as much benefit from picking 30 minutes to 1 hour yoga / pilates videos on Youtube and do those.
Zero evidence, but I think a huge part of this is doing exercises that challenge the body in a completely different way than cycling does, so you use different muscles / muscles in very different ways.
To greatly reduce the startup time, I’ve gone through and created my own playlists of ~30 min, ~45 min, ~1 hour Yoga and Pilates videos, so when it’s time to do one, I just hop into my YouTube account and pick one from my curated playlists for the amount of time I have / my fatigue state
Check out “Yoga with Adrienne” on YT. She has all sorts of playlists for short, medium, or long flows. You can also look for leg, core, back, upper body, etc playlists.
She has some flows for cyclists and triathletes. I find her 30 min flows for hips and hamstrings are really, really good.
My usual home yoga is cosmic kids with my tot. But have also done some Adrienne videos before. I accidentally did one a few weeks ago that was lances wife. I was like ha Armstrong like Lance, then it starts and he’s in the video, whoops.
I started the SMM program some time back it does helps.
Iv been a bit slack with it lately though and doing more yoga, you definitely notice it when I go back to it. It is more bodyweight squats lunges etc than yoga and when iv skipped a few weeks you can feel the burn in your glutes when you go back to it.
