I’m supposed to do an endurance ride today but I have a Recovery Week scheduled starting tmw. (No intensity and I’ll drop from 10 hours to ~6-7)
Should I just bury myself today? Or stick to the plan?
Or maybe just a low tempo ride or something?
No racing…just training for fitness / fun. I feel fine… I’m not overtrained right now but the last month I increased everything (hours / intensity) so I feel like it’s a good time for a recovery week…just to get ahead of it.
ah thank you for the reminder. hard to remember sometimes when I’m focused on numbers.
did a 75% FTP ride and tried to hit all the corners the best I could and stay aero (as aero as I can for a big person) on downhills and flats. I usually ride in the low 60%’s so this was a pleasant bump up in speed from normal.
I see no real point in burying yourself at the end of each load week, especially if you’re following the structure of a training plan.
I agree with @TrekCentury, though. Using those days as soul rides could be nice..
Otherwise, long rides at the top end of Z2 (~75% of FTP) might be a good fit here. They aren’t super intense, but definitely difficult, fatiguing, and highly productive.
If you’re looking to add more work to your week, that’s usually a good and somewhat safe way to go in the right situations.
