Jetblack Victory

I haven’t run a MTB transmission, but have run the new SRAM RED gravel transmission setup (not called transmission, but basically transmission) on it the last few weeks.

I realise that you have had a few replies to this already which are all correct but thought I’d add my 2 cents anyway

I assume GPLama is correct (usually is) that the Jetblack doesnt allow direct link of a power meter to the trainer like your wahoo does.

But I will also echo what the others have said about powermatch. You can achieve your aims using most software programs to record the power data from your pedals whilst using your trainer for resistance.

I’ve had multiple elite and wahoo trainers with this feature but I have found the software solutions work far better.

The only reason I can think of where it would be usefull to link your pedals to the trainer and not your device is if you are running your software on a device (apple tv) which has a limited number of connections available.

I doubt that this would be a feature you would miss if you went for the jetblack

Ditto for Europe (50 € cheaper than the Kickr Core). But is that enough? $100 cheaper is one thing, that’s significant, but a price difference of 50 €/C$ makes this a harder proposition. Wahoo has a proven support network, which would be worth 50 € to me. In terms of features, it is more modern, but if all you do is TrainerRoad over Bluetooth, it is compromises I could live with. (Does TR support 10 Hz mode, for example?)

An Elite Suito T (i. e. without cassette and with a Shimano freehub body) costs 480 € on bike24.de.

I’d add to that a Saris H3 plus for 569 CAD.

I know it’s limited, chances are the company will be out of the market, but it’s proven that it is a reliable piece. So, if it meets the user’s needs, why pay 799 or 859?

It’ll be interesting what Wahoo does with the Kickr Core going forward. I think an upgraded, reliable Kickr Core v2 at the same price point with proven reliability would be a a good product. BTW, one name that isn’t mentioned at all is Tacx/Garmin.

Just got my delay email (UK). Not really surprised to be honest… might actually give me a little time to try and earn some money to get a rocker plate, so probably not the end of the world.

Will be surprised if I get it before Christmas given this line…

"We can now confirm that your VICTORY will land in the UK port of South Hampton in the first week of December, then unloaded and couriered to you soon after. "

Did it really say South Hampton? So, near Molesey then?

Yeah let’s see if they will update the Core at some point, I think it depends on if the Jetblack has any impact on their numbers… Honestly the Tacx trainers are just not competitive when it comes to price/features the Flux S doesn’t seem to be as good as the Kickr Core and the Flux 2 is at least 150 more expensive then the Kickr Core at least here. I’d be interested in how good the Van Rysel D500 is, currently it’s available for 399.-

For me the aditional features are nice in the Jetblack and since I do all my workouts on zwift at the moment, the virtual shifting would also be a nice option.

Yeah, and Tacx’ high-end offerings seem insanely priced. The MSRP of their Neo 3M seems to be 2,000 € Even if we stipulate it is better than a Kickr Move (1,300 €), is it 700 € better?

I’m interested to see what happens on the low-end. The new floor is $400 US, in Europe €450–500. Some of the options available are seriously good, modulo perhaps unknown long-term accuracy and reliability. Differentiation between lower-tier and higher-tier trainers also seems increasingly difficult. There is no hardware or software limitation in cheaper trainers that should prohibit them from e. g. including sensor data passthrough (sensor bridging), wifi or even a 10 Hz mode.

Placed a pre-order today for the second US shipment. Not that I need a trainer right now, but had the opportunity so I took it.

Will likely also get the Zwift Ride at some point.

Is there any information on when they will be shipping these?

Late December, assuming ocean transit times don’t slip.

I just got an email that preorders are now open.

Second Pre-Order sold out…

mine shipped last week and is due to arrive tomorrow or Thursday

edit: actually it showed up today!

This is actually enough for me to not buy this product :frowning:

From DC Rainmaker:
Note that the JetBlack Victory (like past JetBlack trainers) doesn’t have the option to turn off ERG-mode smoothing. This means that the values it reports are artificially perfect (flat). And often, it’s just reporting what you told it value-wise to be set at.

This wouldn’t bother me at all as i use a powermeter and “powermatch” the trainer.

While that is annoying, the actual data being recorded and analyzed is real-time data, not smoothed data.

I would assume that JetBlack will at some point have an update to turn it off…at least I hope so.

Thats not true - at least on the kickr - it alters the data sent to the recording device - the raw data is lost.

Agree that it doesnt really matter - i just dont like it

Also, JetBlack have introduced a rocker platform…haven’t watched @gpl’s video yet, though.
