I saw this on a Facebook advert which looked strange. The advert linked to this website. Maybe someone has bought the failed prototypes or are just out right lying and selling pedal/crank spacers with and IQ2 badge on. I reported the advert as a scam.

I guess the other very plausable possibility is that some chancers have copied the content of the IQ2 Kickstarter/Indiegogo pages and are hoping to get as many $25 PayPal payments off people as possible. When customers donāt get the product itās a relatively small amount to lose and they probably wonāt bother pursuing a refund.

My understanding is that they recovered the PCBs from the crank mounted prototypes to reuse in the pedal-based rebuilds.
I mean they could have been lying when they said that, but for some reason I doubt it. I think theyāre just ridiculously optimistic rather than outright dishonest.
edit: canāt find the statement that said they were re-using the PCBs, maybe I dreamed itā¦

I saw the same advert today on Facebook and someone posted this to the comments. Looks like it is third parties using the content from the company web pages to try to scam people.

I just got an account activation email from my web order to activate, select pedal type, and shipping address.
I had already done it for the ones I backed on Indiegogo
Ha - I backed on kickstarter about a year and a half ago - i havenāt gotten that email yet!
Get in touch with them for sure to get that straightened out. You need to tell them your choice of road or MTB pedal and update shipping address
Worth chasing them I think, I got mine in August as an early Kickstarter backer.

I must say though, Iād rather wait another few months and get a usable product than get something shipped now that lasts 6 weeks and becomes unusable.
The Fit File Podcast with @gpl and @dcrainmaker, Ray was less convinced itās an outright scam. Different from getting a functioning power meter though. Iād say itāll be Rayās most eagerly anticipated review yet

This would make a great case study in how up-front investments in time and money can save a lot more of both in the long run. Changing molds while packaging products is a good counter-example. All thatās missing is a massive recall after the first volume shipment to make it complete.
This said, itās quite probable they will eventually deliver a decent functional product. What Iām not clear on is where the value proposition (āCycling power meter at a breakthrough priceā) comes from in the end - what in their product makes it a cost leader? I can see they have a low-cost organization now (no sales, no marketing, etc), but I donāt see a product unit cost advantage - using the same pedal body as others, similar bearings, similar sensor and electronics - where is the magic?

Yeah, Iāve commented before that 1-cycle development is a nice fairy tale. Unless you are willing to spend the time & money to be very, very thorough it is a near impossibility. I have never seen it it successfully executed in my experience despite working with some very bright people. Given their relative inexperience with producing power meters and a complete change of mechanical design this was doomed to multiple cycles despite their āconfidenceā as IEs that they had things covered.
