🎉🎉🎉 Introducing AI FTP Detection 🎉🎉🎉

One point of clarification on that to add: the model predicts your FTP based on a your FTP history as well as your training history and biometrics, so we’re not just looking at how you typically perform a Ramp Test. The model could also work for someone who had never taken a Ramp Test.

He photoshopped my image.

335 → 342 (2% increase). Going to do my scheduled ramp test on Tuesday anyways and report back how it went. However psychologically, I’m sure there’s some undue influence with the program telling me what I can do versus striving to accomplish or exceed that. As it stands though it makes sense, subjectively looking at my workout progressions and how I feel.

sigh

Anyone out there using Garmins? How close are the 2 estimates?

What type of biometrics?
i know you said no HR necessary…

Would the model be affected by a slow ramping trainer? My on-wheel trainer takes FOREVER to get to power, so sometimes my overall power on intervals is lower than prescribe but is mostly because the first 10-15 is trying to get into the correct power…

i dont know how much of the secret sauce you guys want to share…
I am just curious how it all works.

My garmin things my ftp is like 120…
Garmin usually suggest that I should take video games my sport…

Mine isnt photoshopped, my is a true 13% gain. Just a FYI.

The model takes into account age, for example. And the slow-ramping trainer would not affect your detected FTP. The model takes into account several months of training history as well as recent workouts, so it would be looking at longer efforts (less affected by the slow ramping) as well as shorter ones (more affected by slow ramping). This is part of the beauty of this model - it takes into account a lot of data, so it’s unlikely to be too influenced by something like this.

My garmin estimates are usually within 10 watts of my TrainerRoad FTP and even the newest AI ftp estimate!

I’m just cynical :slightly_smiling_face: If I were releasing something like this I’d be thinking it would go down better if most people got an increase.

Probably says more about me than you :slightly_smiling_face:

Absolutely great work by the way.

I’m seeing minimal reports of problems… and it’s not like us not to complain

Awesome! I have the Ramp Test on my calendar next week. Can’t wait to try this out.

Excellent work all round TR! I was not expecting this feature so soon…

I just tried it out and it all worked seamlessly…it also estimated an FTP bump so that’s a bonus!

Now to feed my need for data by scheduling a daily reoccurring ramp test on my calendar for the foreseeable for auto detect purposes :joy:

Extend Cooldown and deploy! :metal::joy:

THANK YOU!

FWIW, I just ran estimation, and it gave me a 4 watt increase over my manually selected FTP (I drop my FTP from Dec through Jan for recovery, then start testing/building again in Feb), which fits perfectly with the fact that I’ve been finding workouts just at or below the level of difficulty I would expect. I also like the fact that it automatically selected a workout to replace the ramp test, so I didn’t have to manually select a workout of go through Train Now.

Good work! WAY more fun than suffering through a ramp test, but I’ll double check with a ramp test when it gets closer to crit season.

I’d take that in a heart beat!

My friend did a ramp test yesterday and I had him delete the entry and do the estimate. It was +1 from his result yesterday, so I think its close to get you in the ballpark. Like TR say it’s all for the most effective training, FTP is only a #…keep at it!

Is ‘Bowling Integration’ on the roadmap? I really should be paying more for my subscription!

Sort of a bug - if you have more than 1 workout scheduled for the current day, it doesn’t nec show ramp test as next workout (& thus doesn’t show FTP detection either)

Worked around it by just moving the existing workouts to tomorrow and then back.
