🎉 🎉 🎉 Introducing Adaptive Training! 🎉 🎉 🎉

The big thing they had a 2 hour podcast about, sent out mailers about, etc. Clicked the little linkie thing to give email address for the new system, and have gotten no response whatsoever, and the the app is also exactly the same. Same plans…no adaptive training or anything.

So…are they not doing it anymore?

I think it’s in closed beta, so not open to everyone.

TrainNow is in the iOS and Android Beta’s which are open to anyone who wants to sign up. There is a thread about each in the forum. The AT is in closed beta.

LOL…so all this…and then everything is unchanged for everyone they sent these mailers and links to? You have to be part of some super secret club or something to use the features they went on and on about? I think it may be time now to just give up on trainer road. This could drag on for years lol.

Yes, they are doing it.

  • They are in a “closed beta” right now, and will be adding people that requested access (Via the link mentioned and shared) as they get on top of any bugs.

  • It was not a full, open rollout. This is a phased release, similar to how they rolled out Plan Builder in steps, adding smaller groups over time before hitting the full, official open release.

You missed the context. The part you quoted follows the “TrainNow” portion of my reply, and IS open for anyone on the beta apps.

Adaptive Training is the restricted one. I could have been more clear, so sorry for the confusion.

I applied to be part of the beta testing, any idea when we hear if we get to do it or not?

No idea at all. They will invite people when TR is ready for the next step, and they don’t state timelines for unknowns like this.

We’re progressively adding new athletes to the priority access group as we continue to gather feedback and address any potential issues we come across. Working through the list, we’re jammin to add as many athletes as possible as quickly as possible! You’ll be notified when you’re added, along with some instructions on how to submit feedback and report bugs should you encounter any. :+1:

I don’t fault TR at all for announcing that this is in closed beta. Any software needs to go through testing, and they want more users in the system to do the testing. Nate literally talked about this topic for about 15 minutes in the podcast, debating when it is appropriate to give information on future stuff. I’ve been using the TrainNow feature and found it to pretty useful.

We’ll have some updates coming on the closed beta probably later today, and then the plan is to keep everyone abreast of things weekly on the podcast.

Thank yall this thread is HUGE.

Exactly. They worked on it 3 years non-stop, but after reading all the “Can you please let me in”-comments, they just said: “well f*&$ it, we do 100% Baxter training plans instead”

I wonder if the ML will eventually be able to figure out a fitness decay rate. You come back after 3 weeks and AT has something at your current Progression Level.

Decay rates are currently part of Adaptive Training! After a break your Progression Levels currently decline so a return to training is more appropriately tuned to your fitness.

I think all this is pretty frustrating… very exciting to hear the new features but then nothing changes. I actually stopped my current plan waiting for adapted…somehow it killed the motivation to do the “old” stuff.
Maybe it is just me, but I think I would have preferred that they wait with the announcement until people can actually use it…well I do some more Zwift then for the time being

That’s fantastic.

Is it just the Progression Levels that ease or does it recommend a new lower FTP as well?

First post and very excited for adaptive training. I stopped using Trainer Road a few years ago when I stopped cycling, but COVID (and Zwift) brought me back to the fold . Last year was mainly unstructured riding on Zwift. I caught COVID at the end of last year, and made a personal commitment to use structured training to regain fitness - the timing of this could not have been more perfect (even if I’m not in the beta yet).

My question regards sleep, HRV, RHR, BP, and other metrics. I have been tracking these via Oura ring and other devices. I know that adaptive training does not include these but may in the future. I am willing to start manually recording them somewhere in TR so that the data science team can start to collect these metrics. Where would be the best place to record them for the time being?

Don’t know but here are some other candidates:

I’m pretty excited for AT and it was a great podcast. However I will happily wait weeks for this feature to allow the TR team to get it right. This is one of the things I like about TR, simple, clean and it just works. :+1:

It’s not as though they’ve pulled the current plans.
