šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ Introducing Adaptive Training! šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰

No word on frequency at this time. All we know is that ā€œselect, you know who you areā€ people were invited yesterday. Those who signed up for the closed beta will be added over time, but there’s no indication of when that will be.

Will you create a new thread for your review and updates?

The intention don’t matter for the effect of the effort. If I do 4x20@220W it has the same effect on my fitness regardless of if it was performed in the context of a TR structured workout or not. It is easier for the model to guess at the effect of the effort when it is tied to that workout because they are able to look at the outcomes for everyone else that did that same workout. Bridging that gap between ā€˜bag of efforts’ and ā€˜this specific set of efforts’ is the hard part.

One thing I haven’t seen discussed at all is whether this will recommend a rest or easy day. There’s been a lot said about how it will use ML and incorporate that into its algorithm, but does it use that to recommend additional rest days? Everything I’ve seen is about how it suggests WHAT intensity to do, not WHEN to do it.

One curiosity I have about my recent ssb2 hv is whether too many achievable workouts mean there’s not enough stress to grow. Would be interesting to learn more about how many productive workouts one should be doing vs simply achievable

It would be interesting to see if you added the same Trainer plan… say SSb2 HV to your future today… if it would schedule the same workouts or more challenging ones…

Of course this would break your current plan but it would be for science…

I’m not really on a plan, so I can try! (I’m on sustained power but I added it without plan builder so it’s not adapting, plus I’m doing some custom stuff). Will report back after my ride. But it does make me think because I did ssb2 at 300w and am at 290 after struggling with sustained build (I did not struggle with ssb)

I’m feeling my sense of self-worth slowing dribble away as I’ve yet to make it into the beta group :frowning:

Yes. They show it in the promo video

Curious if what you’re seeing is (1) a backward-looking evaluation of the workouts you did, or (2) the evaluation at the time of the workouts that were adaptively chosen?

Your screenshot shows the standard week 3 and week 4 workouts for SSB-HV-2. If you had AT running at the time, it suggests that AT is suggesting ā€œachievableā€ workouts during these weeks. But if AT has only recently been turned on, it might mean that it is now judging that two-week stretch may have been below your most ā€œproductiveā€ level of effort.

This also highlights the difference between what is ā€œachievableā€ in the context of a single workout vs. a week of workouts. While I could do any one of those workouts, stringing those 6 back to back would not be achievable for me at this point!

Maybe?

Seems like and ā€œAT Experiencesā€ thread might be useful. But I think it’s worth checking with TR to see if they have a preference. I will check with Ivy and see if we can get some direction.

C’mon @Nate_Pearson I’ve been sat in my cycling gear since the announcement yesterday waiting for the invite! Let me in! I’m going to need to sleep soon :smiley:

Any other D&D players out there look at the Progression Level chart and worry that when you get your first assessment that you’re gonna goā€¦ā€œcan I re-roll these stats please?ā€

I like this idea. A thread for people who actually have the beta to share their experiences and field questions, and omit all the subscription price / stock(??) / dylan johnson stuff.

lol can I just use point buy system instead, and make myself an awesome sprinter?

Where? You may be right, but where it shows changes to workouts, it’s not clear to me whether that’s an adjustment for intensity (e.g., replace 6x2min at 117% with 6x2min at 120%; both target VO2max) or a larger shift in the training emphasis (e.g., scrap the remainder of build and go back to SSB2).

The only schedule shift I see in the promo is at around 0:45, and it seem to be bringing next week’s workouts forward to this week, which is a little hard to interpret.

This is a REALLY GOOD POINT!
I am highly interested on how the ML handles this.

For example: You select SSBHV2 and it schedules all your workout based on the test plan as it is right now per Coach Chad design. This means TONS of Sweet Spot work…
Then you start doing them and you are completing your workouts fine.
Option A - You are getting 100% on your workouts so you end up with SSBHV2 as prescribed no change.
Option B - ML realizes that you are not doing any work other than SS so it recommends some Vo2 max?
Option C - You start failing some workouts and then it changes the SSBHV2 to easier workouts for the remaining weeks?

Can I take a VO2 Feat, please?

Wish I’d have picked ā€œVariant Humanā€ with the ā€œOlympic athlete parentsā€ racial lineage.

But more seriously, the number you see is a relation to you so would be hard to really have a max value. Though guess workout is time limited so if TR limits workouts to 24 hours…
