You guys need to go deeper
This, to me, is a huge question.
I noticed that the workouts suggested by “TrainNow” have been VERY hard. Yes, I could knock them out. But sandwiched between 2 days of over/under work or Vo2max? Probably not.
It seems like TrainNow, at least, does not take into account the week/month/block volume but supposedly the full AT feature is going to?
Is this true?
I thought the number/ranking of the workouts was fixed and your Progression Level ranking is personalized.
Say for example Tallac +3 is always a SS 7.7 and Tallac +2 is always a SS 6.6. If I am a Sweet spot Level 6, the Tallac +2 would be categorized Achievable or Productive but the Tallac +3 would be categorized Productive or Stretch. If it did any of these workouts succesfully my ranking would increase to Level 6.7 (or something higher than 6) making the next progression more achievable…say Tallac +4 if it exists.
Meaning the changing aspect is my level not the ranking…
If I cant roll 18 in at least three stats I’m not playing!
One way to check if this is true is for @mcneese.chad to give us “his” ranking of the Tallac series since he has the Beta.
@hubcyclist has already provided a screenshot showing “his” ranking of at least Tallac +3 = SS 7.7 and Tallac +2 = SS6.6.
My understanding is that @mcneese.chad would have the same ranking, even though they might have different SS progression levels.
Does this make Chad the DM?
Scary
Amber posted I the original beta tester thread that a workout classification is constant, so your example would be the same for all, what differs is how that particular difficulty fits into your own progression,.
That’s a scary thought. TPK time.
I suspect they’re going to run regressions on these to fine-tune those classifications over time as people with a given progression score attempt them
Drink literally one potion of India Pale Ale. +5 CHA, -2 insight (which product features to reveal).
That was my understanding as well.
The next level of questioning and where people will complain and argue… How did TR come up with the ranking? ie. “The system says Tallac +2 is a SS 6.6 and Hunter -1 is a SS 6.4, I think Hunter is harder”. I can already see these post coming up…
TR: We asked 100 people which workout is the hardest… This was our ranking system!

Coming soon to the workout instructions: “Next interval coming up in 30 seconds. Roll for initiative.”
Keep in mind that a big part of this release is the “100 million rides.” Those rides are literally the sweat and tears of the subscribers that you feel are being “subsidized” by newer subscribers. The reality is that trainerroad is what it is today and what it is becoming because of all of those early adopters and long term customers, combined with Nate’s amazing team. New subscribers should be grateful, not annoyed.
Perhaps the ranking was already automated…
They already mentioned that the ML system has access to our data… meaning the Adaptive training has already classified you even though you haven’t been accepted into the beta?
If so, it already guessed at your progression and checked your pass score on different workouts… and therefore assigned the classification of the workout. then it bounced it against 100million other riders… and fine tuned the ranking?
Speculation at this point… would be interesting to hear from @ambermalika how the workout ranking was developed.
Drinking potions is dopping
I don’t understand very well in case following a plan… It will adapt and show me workouts options everyday I have a scheduled workout??
