I’ve deliberately NOT done an FTP test in this block as I want to see how the PLs progress up - if I did one now my FTP will go up (currently set to 275, I believe a test will put me in the 280-285 region), and that would drop all my PLs back down to some degree (I don’t really need to do a test to set my FTP pretty accurately anyway).
Neat thing today, I reassessed the workout I did Tuesday based on reading the screenshots above and downgraded it from 3 to 2 - all my upcoming Threshold workouts effectively got pulled a week closer with next weeks’ being dropped and replaced with the week after etc. I know this is what AT is supposed to do, but it’s cool to see it in action.
You don’t need to test. If you manually adjust your FTP upwards, AT will reduce your PLs, adapt your plan, and you can start building back up again. I just did this on Tuesday and would say that AT is a little over aggressive in adjusting the PLs, but hopefully a couple stretch workouts will have things back on track.
I see what you mean that the workout has been marked as cut short when it shouldn’t have been. Taking a look around, it seems that this is an issue that we’re aware of and are working on finding a fix for. That being said, I don’t have a timetable on when a fix for this could be ready. =(
Unfortunately, based on this, we aren’t able to change the response, and this is also why you weren’t prompted to update the response since the response can’t be changed.
Is there a suggestion to get around the sync issues, should I just not bother setting a survey response on the desktop app and then sort it out on the website later?
That’s probably the way to handle it for now. Either update the survey on mobile (I’ve had no sync issues with Android personally) or on the web for now while the support team fixes the desktop version sync problem.
To further add to this, at the top of the calendar page is a little refresh button. When it is syncing, it will be spinning. When it stops spinning, you should be safe to close the app as it should be synced across devices at that point.
So going from 4.2 to 3.3 in sweet spot after 2 weeks is normal? Seems kind of excessive looking at the differences in workouts. With this decay rate you pretty much will always have inaccuracies because there are too many zones to target so if you focus on endurance your SS/Vo2 zones will fall grossly, switch focus to Vo2 and what happens to endurance and tempo? You don’t just lose the fitness
I still think the decay is incorrect, in my uneducated I’m not a coach opinion.
Surprised to see AT schedule a STRETCH workout for Thursday after Tuesday’s Ramp Test. I wouldn’t think AT would schedule stretch workout and this is a first for me. Well, I finished it and marked it Very Hard as it was. I am rewarded with new adaptions to even higher level VO2 workouts going forward .
Yes. Earlier this season when I was in base and build, I would get stretch workouts on Thursdays and sometimes on Sundays. The rest of the workouts would either be in the achievable or productive category.
That could be a contributing issue, you could be running a suuuuuuuper old version if you never close the app and let the update take place. Either way, Id check with support@trainerroad.com as its not the normal experience you’re encountering. Sorry for the trouble!
Hi @IvyAudrain. I should clarify. I close it when a new update is downloaded so I think i’m on the latest version. Regardless, I did submit a ticket a couple days ago so the team is aware and they said it was being worked on and would be released soon.
Alas I train in the garage so hanging around 5 minutes isn’t a realistic option (everything gets turned off and I go straight in for a shower).
I’ll just do the website option.
Also, this doesn’t just seem to affect workout surveys. I’ll often pick an alternative session using the desktop app in the house, check it’s synced with the website and then head into the garage… only to find that the app in the garage doesn’t pick it up (even after clicking the refresh button and waiting for it to finish).
TrainerRoad workouts scheduled outside are now classified as passes and contribute to your Progression Levels once any outside workout file is associated with them! Just make sure you mark as ‘outside’ prior to associating to ensure it will go towards your Progression Levels. You dont even have to push the workout to your head unit for it to get marked as a pass.
Workouts moved to a different day will now stay associated with the plan and be able to/remain eligible for adaptations. This is also a “moving forward” fix, so if you’ve already moved a workout up to this point it will likely remain disassociated from the plan. We need to double-check on app changes for this, but its definitely live on the web!
