šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ Introducing Adaptive Training! šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰

On the website, when you switch it to Outside, it should also provide the option to push it to the unit manually. It does this for me with Wahoo, so I assume the functionality extends to Garmin as well. I use it all the time to ensure the workout is on my head unit when I need it.

You can freely pull a future workout to the current day with no issues. It will work fine, you will get appropriate Progression Level updates from the moved workout assuming it is an inside one, or a ā€œproperā€ Garmin one.

The issue with ā€œbrokenā€ workouts is if you move around future workouts on the calendar. Sometimes, those ones won’t be updated according to the change in your PL’s after they are moved. So, move any workout need to the present day to make your life easy, and there is nothing to worry about.

Love adaptive training so far! I’m about 2 months in.

A couple questions/comments:

  • I’m getting a black screen when I try to add feedback after an outside workout on mobile (android). See attached.
  • TR often thinks I ā€œstruggledā€ on outdoor workouts because I don’t hit the power targets. This is usually because of terrain issues (downhills on intervals etc), not actually struggling I don’t want this to affect adaptations. Do I simply select ā€œI didn’t struggleā€?

Thanks!

  • Yes, that is best for now, when you know that is the case.

Just finished a workout, based on the App, it scores it ā€œNot Recommendedā€ while on the browser, it shows ā€œProductiveā€. Is there a possible sync/delay? I would imagine though the AI would be assessing the same workout, and the app or browser is just pulling the same data, just showing in different channels

Related, I often pick an alternate workout on my desktop machine before heading into the pain cave and I’ve found that it very rarely picks up my changes in the app, even if I refresh.

Website seems to pick up the change instantly though. Frustrating. Has meant that I basically have to write down the name of the intended workout and choose it manually once I get out there.

I’m not certain if it still is an issue or not, but there was indeed a known issue regarding what you’re describing. Here’s a link to one of Ivy’s posts from last week on it. If it’s still cropping up, it may be one of the more persistent bugs.

Just for me - that seems to be fixed now. Must have been changed in the last few days since not long ago I was seeing big differences between the app and web. I guess it may be different between the apps though - I am on Android.

That was more referring to inconsistencies in Progression Levels between web and apps, so anything else should be reported to support@trainerroad.com in case there’s a different issue or setting we can look into to help. :+1:

Sorry for asking but new to AT (got in today) and frankly this (and other AT thread) is too big to find anything!

  • Is there a FAQ page as people have been requesting?
  • How often do adaptations for workouts occur?
  • If I reject adaptations once for some workouts will it never look at them again or still offer adaptations in the future for those workouts (accidentally rejected all initial adaptations!)?
  • Am progress level for threshold seems v low at 2.7 when I was doing 4.5 threshold workouts just last week (althoughdid manually increase FTP by 5w since then)…does that sound right? Maybe just ignore initial adaptation suggestions for threshold, do another 4.5ish workout to remind levels where I’m at?

ALMOST haha, as a support team, we are working through the thousands of posts and inquiries to try to decide what questions and points of confusion are most relevant and more commonly asked. Making sure the help document isn’t too cluttered and overwhelming is a task in itself, too, we’re nearly there though!

Every time you complete (or miss) a workout, you have the potential to receive an adaptation.

If I understand your question correctly, the latter. Ie, if you reject an adaption for a workout next week, but tomorrow miss your workout, you may be asked again to adapt that same workout next week.

The Progression Logic may not look like what you always expect upon completing a workout, but if you’re concerned a workout wasn’t accounted for or your levels are wrong/something is amiss, feel free to reach out to support@trainerroad.com. There’s a lot of confusion surrounding PLs and what influences their change, its important to keep in mind that this is simply a visibility tool to the work you’re doing, and requires some trust that Plan Builder and your Adaptations will have you covered if you’re falling short in one of those areas. :sunglasses:

Thanks Ivy, so to clarify adaptations can happen basically everytime I either do a workout or miss a workout (I only train indoors on TR so no outdoor workout issues).

Next time I do or skip a workout all my workouts will be assessed again to see if adaptations are needed, regardless if I rejected adaptations for that workout previously?

Also where can I change settings to always accept adaptations etc…says in my account but I don’t see it.

Thanks

  • Yes.

One point to mention if you haven’t seen it. You MUST be using a plan created using Plan Builder to get any adaptions. Manually added plans (ad hoc) are not supported at this time.

Great, thanks. Yes using plan builder.

Also how do I tell AT about a planned holiday or similar…I remember people discussing this I think!

Add an Annotation on your Calendar with the date range, and any of the 3 options on the right (all but Notes) lead to Plan changes.

Just a note to say that the last four of my sessions are showing as ā€œMissing Responseā€ on the website, but I definitely put them in on the app (and gave time to sync).

Are you on the latest beta version? At least for me, the latest beta fixed the sync delay problem which is what caused the missing response.

Sync delay: prior to the recent (maybe 2 ago) beta, the only reliable way I had to get the TR Mac app to sync the survey response was to quit the app, and the re-launch it. If I didn’t do this, then I had to leave the app open for anywhere from a couple of minutes to over 15 minutes before the survey response would show up online.

I have struggled today in my Forum searching nearly as much as i struggled in my workout. Both failures…

Does anyone have the link to the guide to correctly answering the Struggle Survey that I think @IvyAudrain posted at some point?

I had no legs today, failed an Achievable workout, and selected Fatigue as the reason, but that might not be right as it did not trigger any adaptions
