I'm back! (OK, maybe nobody missed me)

I got a Kickr in late 2017. Used a combo of TR, Zwift and SufferFest, and got in the best shape of my life, even did a couple of full marathons. Illness/injury put me back a bit but I recovered fairly quickly. Then Covid hit, plus change in job, and as we came out of Covid my band kinda took off - So that’s a long way of saying that I’m overweight and very much out of shape, but hey, new year and all! So I’m jumping back in, confident because I’ve done it not once but twice!

A lot of changes since I was active. SufferFest doesn’t exist as a stand-alone anymore. No more Coach Chad, wtf. I tried to listen to the TR podcast which I dearly loved back when it was Nate, Jonathan and Chad but god, I couldn’t even get through a full episode. Really happy to see TR is still alive and well, the plans and Adaptive Training look very cool. Zwift is still around as the 800lb gorilla in the room, but they still don’t have the training plans I’d want to use, so - TR + Zwift it is for me!

I pasted a picture of my FTP history back when I first started out. I’m now starting out at about 180, so we’ll see what a 57yr old can do over the next year!.

Welcome back and well done!

Agree with you on the podcast changes, there is clearly a story there that they would like to keep private. The podcast has had some ups and downs, it’s still useful and I listen to it weekly still but some of the OG magic is gone.

The new TR features are great, and over the last few years TR and the sport has really focused on nutrition and recovery. There is much more encouragement to eating 90+ grams of carbs per hour for I’d say sweet spot and above, and it makes a huge difference. Also focus on sleep.

They are working on TR and Zwift integration, so “soon” you will be able to do TR workouts in Zwift but it seems like some changes with Strava policies delayed it a bit. Everyone is hoping for January but either way it should be here soon!

Cheers!
