So now that we are headed into summer, I have another question about how to enter events into the plan + have it adapt around them.
Each Wednesday, I will end up riding ~1 hour to a 50 minute race, and then ~1 hour home. In terms of intensity, and having the plan take this into account, how should I enter these?
Do a 3 hour tempo ride? Do 2 separate rides, one 2 hour z2 ride, and a 50 minute race pace ride? Do it as a workout so I can show 1 hour of z2, 50 minutes of threshold, then 1 hour of z2?
Just added them in as 3 hour tempo rides to try to have the tss land roughly correctly, but that then leaves me with 3 other vo2/hard rides on the week, plus racing on Wednesdays and Saturdays/sundays. Just think that is overkill for me
Hey there,
Good question!
Since it’s not likely that you’ll want to separate/combine those two 1-hour z2 ride files every week, it’s probably best/easiest to schedule those 50-minute races as C races, or hard “Group Rides,” and leave those commutes as unstructured activities.
There’s no need to try and be too specific with those, and it might not be super productive to try to categorize those rides as structured workouts, especially after a 50-minute race.
If you edit your schedule to switch one of those three hard workouts to a Group Ride, we’ll know that you’re replacing one of those hard workouts with an unstructured activity. You’ll then be left with only two hard workouts for the week, as well, which might be the better option.
Let me know if this makes sense and if you have any other questions about this. I’d be happy to chat some more if it helps!
