I am looking for a high quality, horizontal wall mount (bike rack) for my carbon fiber road bike in my garage. Does anyone have a good recommendation?
I have a couple of “Steadyrack” racks and happy with them. A little pricey, but good quality. Very good if you have multiple bikes, you can offset them (higher and lower) and store the bikes closer together.
I’ve used a few over the years, and I find the Feedback Sports Velo Wall Rack 2D the best. It’s very well made and you can adjust the length and height of the arms for the perfect fit to the wall.
I’m using 4 of these in my garage for the last 5 years and have zero complaints. I’ve mounted the pedal brackets into wall studs, and I have only had a great experience. I got them because I didn’t want to hang hydraulic disc brakes vertically
Steadyrack. Edit: I just realised OP wrote horizontal. oh the shame
same (or similar) as mpmdec
Initially I had not installed the little tire shelf things but had an issue with them slowly shifting and my bike got wedged between the pedal hanger and ceiling, so installed them finally.
This looks appealing, but…power meter pedals
Tons has a nice one though many people would call it overpriced. I like the simple wood look. I have a couple of their gear racks and they’re really nice.
Same for me. I don’t really want to hang my bikes from power meter pedals and, also, I have 2 sets of pedals for 4 bikes so can’t rely on pedals being on bikes.
I also use the Feedback Sports rack with good results.
Tons wall mount is very nice, if you like to use your expensive bike as a decoration in the living room, instead of riding it.
I really like these as well, easy to adjust and I like being able to get the bikes set up so that the wheels are horizontal.
I’ve been using unbranded front wheel hooks and have looked at some of the steadyrack type products to get a bit more flexibility, but we’re moving to a new house this year and I think I’m going to take the rail-and-rollers hook approach next time:
Stashed is the (incredibly expensive) purpose-built product that’s been advertising heavily here in the UK, but I have a friend who did something similar with rail and carrier parts designed for farm gates or industrial workshop sliding doors or similar. I think he just fitted generic rubberised hooks to the carriers - you usually see them with a wood screw thread on the end but you can also get the same with threading for bolt-and-nut fixings which I think connected to the carriers really easily.
I think the DIY challenge if you’re doing “wall mount” would be finding/making the L-brackets to hold the rail out at the appropriate distance from the wall.
Wait, you guys are actually riding your bikes?!?! I thought we just take pictures for Instagram? Man I’ve been doing this all wrong. But the gram is looking sweet.
