Half week in & fried legs

I fear this topic is going to drive me mad
Over the WE I pulled my power data from since back in 2019 into xert and let it recalculate my sig multiple times. The outcome appears to be completly random, putting my TP everywhere between 260 and 340 each time.

For my next SS workout today I went outside on my XC. For warmup I tried the Xert “What is my FTP?” data field (for the ones who don’t know it: Xert rolls out free real-time FTP app on Garmin devices | DC Rainmaker).
With that I could easily reproduce my ramp test result (294w).
So I moved TR back to this as its setting and completed my workout without any issue (rated it hard).

The WO was rated SS 2.0, same is the one last week where I felt I had to puke.
Difference was that I didn’t do it right in the morning, which I am not used to at all.
And then outside is also mentally way easier for me.

So well, who knows. Maybe last week going from basically zero to ramp-test → SS → SS → TH all on the trainer and at weird times of day was just too much.

There’s definitely a bit of a ramp with TR (and most training plans, I suppose). I like doing indoor workouts early in the morning but if I’ve just been riding for fun it takes a couple of sessions before my body and mind are in the right spot coming in to the workout.

Are you using the same power meter indoors and outdoors?

yes

So I couldn’t wait for Fridays next threshold O/U workout to confirm if I can deal with the 294w FTP setting and moved it to today. I guess that (moving it between the 2x weekly SS workouts within a week) is not a deal breaker in terms of TR’s training method @ZackeryWeimer ?

In any case I could systain it without any issue and feel good. Rated it as “hard”.
I assume that would have turned out very different if my FTP would really just be at 260w.

So justice to TR, the ramp test was indeed much closer to reality than what I (and xert) thougt!

What I would maybe suggest to TR is an (maybe optional) “ease in week” for new users who start doing intervals on a trainer for the first time. I guess that would have helped me and not put me into that kind of doubt about that test result.

Try Leconte.

Thats PL 4.8, I am just at 2.4.
Doesn’t sound too reasonable.

It’s what people used to see if their FTP was set correctly for TR.

Ok, I’ll get there. Hopefully

Just finished LV SSB I and the recovery week. So I did another ramp test as I didn’t manage the 10 trainer rides to qualify for AI FTP.
It bumped me from 294w to 299w. The xert “What’s my FTP?” app running in parallel had me at 296w

Nothing to write home about but much better then expected given the investment compared to before:

Activity time

That one is not very fair, as July/Agust has lot of non-exercise leisure riding with kids etc. Truth is maybe around 40% invested time compared to before TR.

The heighets FTP xert ever had me was 360w IIRC, which was with 14h/week. If I could manage to get that back with the 3.5h/week I’m doing now, that would be awsome.

Thats what garming thinks about the development of my endurance (and why I expected the worst for today)

Makes this now look like a pretty useless metric to me.

Regarding the thread title: My legs are not fried any more. Maybe with the exception for the 24…40h after the threshold workouts.
