Grand Raid BCVS / MTB Marathon / Which TR-Plan for preparing?

Dear all, dear TR-coaches

I’ve planned to attend the Grand-Raid BCVS in switzerland, the long version (125km, 5000m up).
I’ve done the Nationalpark-Marathon also in Switzerland (107km, 4000m up) within 9:40h. Now, I would like to gain my stamina. Which TR-plan would you suggest? Of course there are a lot of other points to have a closer look (food, beverages, downhill-skills), but these are already build ;-).

What would you suggest? The race is in August 2026, so I have 8 month to train. But of course, there is a full time job, and a study. So I have 3 evenings Monday to Saturday for shorter sessions (1.5h) and the Sunday for long sessions (also hiking, running, etc.) I’m 50y old and have done a lot of Multiday-Enduro races … a bit of experience is build

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Cheers Marcel

Hey @Swanikanu, welcome to the forum!

For an event that will likely take that long to complete, I’d probably recommend making that a Gravel event and building out an event-based plan to prepare you for it.

You can easily adjust your training schedule to suit your availability and three 1.5 hour sessions plus one long one is definitely a solid amount of training.

Let me know if you’d like any more feedback on how to get a plan in place. It sounds like you’re in for a great day out! :raising_hands: :person_mountain_biking:

Hi Eddie

Thanks for your answer. I’ve chosen the MTB Marathon plan until the date of the event. Maybe I’ll change the duration of the session spontaneously.

Cheers Marcel
