I’ve just done the TR Goddard workout. Man it was good. Really varied and fun. An hour disappeared so quickly. Are there any other similar workouts? I can’t seem to find a category for these in the filtered search. Thank you as always.
Quick skim of 1 hour workouts and I found many of this variation:
Clingman’s
Jane Bald
Moosilaukee
Cardigan
Chocura
Gros Morne
Carrigain
And a few different ones:
Karakoram
Toulumne
Goode
Diamond
Cleghorn
Corcoran -2
Race Simulations:
Diamond Valley Road Race
Search on “8DC” to get all of the “8-Day Challenge” workouts.
And a few extra crazy ones:
Disaster -2
Rockhouse
My life is complete @mcneese.chad Thank you. I am grateful
It is one of my favourite workouts too.
I’m a big fan of these types of workouts for the variety and that they simulate what many outdoor rides can be like. I guess they are akin to doing two 30-minute workouts back to back e.g. a threshold/vo2 max followed by a sweetspot. I suspect there is less benefit than doing a full vo2 or sweetspot session, but if they get you on the trainer with a smile and keep you coming back for more than they are extremely beneficial!
I think the variety is nice to sprinkle into an otherwise “structured” plan. These work well, and so can doing something like Zwift races. These other more varied efforts are a nice break from the repetitive nature of most TR workouts. Tossing in one of these per month or Training Work Cycle is refreshing.
I love Goddard because it is so skill-focused! If you’re chasing marginal gains, Goddard is the X-factor you’re looking for. Efficient pedal mechanics will help you keep your form late in the race while all your opponents are fading. It’s not particularly taxing from an I.F. standpoint, but it does require a ton of mental and technical focus. I wish TrainerRoad had more workout variations that included form sprints, SL drills, high cadence spin ups (and maybe even low-cadence work) all-in-one like Goddard!
