I experienced something with the AI FTP prediction software this week that I thought other users might find interesting. I went for a run and input my RPE afterwards (Hard). I was very surprised (and elated) when my AI FTP prediction for March 6 went up by +1 W.
I think that my bike fitness translated into improved performance on the run. I haven’t missed a workout on the bike since mid December, but have only run three or four times in that span.
I mostly expected that training load from running would decrease the AI FTP prediction.
As a regular runner and bugger of Support… lol I can say that my results of running TSS calced on RPE, fatigue detection and effects on bike training plan is a crapshoot without pattern. lol Setting the RPE, then in turn sets the TSS for that run. Strength , Yoga, etc you have to manually enter it. TSS then adds to your load and is used for Red/Yellow day calcs. IF i go back in time and raise all my strength and run TSS (weeks/months back - but not recent AI window)…. my Yellow days currently and FTP do not change. (i have tried mass changes… i don’t know what its look back window is… though). If all my runs/lifts in the past are up 20% in TSS… shouldn’t that effect current TSS % of typcial TSS and expected workload capacity? (yes it should)
I have been doing very similar for 10years now (bike workouts and run workouts/racing often seasonally)… yet TR thinks my easy 40min 8:45/mile jogs are going to kill me (6:46/mi marathon… and Ultra Marathoner30-100mile)! LOL Definitly isn’t taking into account that my runs are adding to my fitness or that it is a sustainable activity lol. Strange from a Triathlete based platform to some extent.
