Precisely the meme I had in mind when I wrote that (but was too lazy to grab )
- Out of curiosity, why and what would be sufficient?
We don’t even know what’s coming in the podcast, but you are already hinting that lack of any forum comment will be insufficient somehow. I just don’t understand.
Of course, I’m assuming what the podcast will cover (in part) - I could be wrong. Perhaps it is purely my own idiosyncrasy, but (working again on assumptions) I would have thought it appropriate to respond to the matters raised in the area in which they were raised. We know not everyone listens to the podcast, and Nate and co have posted on here before, so if they were going to respond to the issues, I would find it a bit odd that they wouldn’t do so here (even if that is in the form of a podcast transcript, say).
I’d also add that it might be advisable to have their stance in here, given the way that google searches work…
Happy Birthday! I’ll be sure to lift a cold one for you… Hope your day is awesome!
I don’t even understand what a “forum answer” is…a response to that shitshow of a thread?
I really hope its some big new feature thing and/or I would really like to hear a live adult conversation between TR and DJ. I think it could be incredibly worthwhile and I could learn a ton from that type of discussion. However, a rehash of this debate for the sake of a response seems like a waste. If they want to address it for a few minutes, great. But I’m not all that interested in having TR talk at DJ rather than talk with him.
For what it’s worth, I have literally no idea who is right or even if there is a right or wrong. I am way too rookie to know these things. I just think this is a great opportunity to learn if done correctly. TR’s desire to teach its audience, and making that desire a reality, is much more than I get from anything else.
I subscribe to TR, I follow a LV plan and complete each workout, and I listen to their podcasts. I am very pleased with my product value thus far. I hope I learn some more from them and DJ. A rising tide will raise all ships.
How about this:
‘Ok, we’ve heard that a lot of people have expressed some strong opinions here. We’re not going to go through them in detail here, but suffice to say we are aware of xyz and will be discussing our position and some more specifics on this podcast/this YouTube video.’
How’s that?
Or alternatively, they could just ignore every valid criticism on the pretext that the thread they are contained in went south (and east, and west) a few times. Perhaps tell people to stop talking about it like they did in the masters plan thread?
And, from purely commercial perspective, this thread is high on the google hits. If a potential customer does come across it, then he or she is going to read as much or as little of it as he/she has time for, and is going to find customers criticising aspects of a product, without anything in reply from the creators of that product. In many people’s eyes, that will legitimise those grievances (rightly or wrongly). Leaving publicly available criticism to go unanswered is fairly poor business sense IMO.
Narrator: There isn’t.
I noticed you’ve complained quite a few times about the training plans available not being suitable for you. Having gone the self-coached route (which I believe you have too), I don’t think I’d ever entirely go to a ‘cookie cutter’ plan, no matter which coach wrote it. That’s just my opinion though.
So out of interest, what exactly would you like to see from new training plans that would get you onboard? How could it ever be more optimally tailored than something you made for yourself and can adjust for your yourself?
Objection, your honour. Speculation!
- That is not what happened. Pointing out the futility of comments in the form of “countdowns” or a constant refrain of “Is it here yet???” are far from productive or helpful, is what happened.
-
Again, not likely to happen. A podcast may well be a far better medium for response vs forum for all we know. Even if so, they will undoubtedly have a lead forum post for that podcast (like usual) and maybe specific ones for any new feature, functions, etc. for whatever is coming. We might also get TR blog posts.
-
We simply don’t what is coming or how they plan to address it. Setting requirements and the like are painting a specific corner for TR to fall within. Seems like a mistake to me, and I’d just wait to see what they actually do and share before dissecting something that hasn’t even happened yet.
The original was raised on YouTube and TR podcast is also on YouTube and the almighty algorithm loves a beef between YouTubers.
All hail the algorithm!
Guilty as charged! I sentence myself to the lashings of Carpathian Peak +2 at 6pm tonight
I figured that’s the real answer. Which is why I think an honest and candid conversation would be highly beneficial.
They did say that…
It’s all been stage managed for the impending business simplification strategy!
In order to save costs on Azure storage, the plan library is being reduced to Baxter and Mills +1.
The mobile app is also being KISSed into a simple Red Light/Green Light display.
And Watts wil be used to generate bitcoin. Or something.
That’s my pension plan down the shoot then.
February 25th podcast:
Dylan Johnson is the guest on the podcast. Him, coach Chad, Nate and Jonathan have a 2 hour friendly conversation about the training models and their pros and cons.
In the end, they sum up that “there is no right or wrong answer” and that “the right strategy depends on where you currently are and what your goals are”.
TrainerRoad got publicity, Dylan got publicity, everyone is happy.
The end.
I may have found out the topic : the TrainNow new feature!
