Feature requests: Lobby ride

It would be great if we soon as you open TR and start spinning a ‘blank’ workout would start. This could give you chance to either spin easy will loading up a workout, or give you some time to see how you are feeling before selecting a workout.

Also you could potentially use it to link two workouts together.

TrainerRoad doesn’t really support free riding. It is always a workout with a target watt and a limited duration (which you can extend).

Do you want the unstructured riding, and potentially multiple workouts to be saved as one big a activity?

  • It may not be the focus of TR broadly speaking, but they definitely support it in one way at least. Here are a number of “Free Ride” workouts with no power target and set at varied duration.

I don’t have a need for this suggestion, but can envision TR sort of defaulting to one of these workouts (given a user selectable option which allows people to get this or not) that would use Resistance or Standard mode (assuming smart trainer/bike paired) to give a moderate level of resistance initially. Likely a couple ways to do it really, if it is something they think is worth the effort.

I am aware of these workouts, but they are not really free rides as you need to tell upfront that you are going to workout for n minutes. You don’t do that on Zwift or outdoors. You just start the recording and stop it when you are done.

The few times I used them, I just picked one well longer than I expected to need and quit when I was done. Worked fine for that use case at least. I’m not suggesting those as a solution exactly, but mentioned them as an option for awareness as much as anything.

If you happen to have a Zwift subscription then I’m thinking there might be a solution……

Kidding aside….start Zwift, pick an outdoor tr workout, and let’r rip.

That would work but Id want to be able to essentially do that without having to have both zwift and TR - also I wouldn’t be able to load in any TR workout to zwift unless it was already in the workout catalogue.

Id prefer one ‘ride’ rather than multiple separate activities.

Just record everything on your watch or cycling computer? But still let Trainerroad control the resistance.

That could also work but seems like another work around.
