Favero Assioma Users

How are you guys doing with battery life? I’m about 20 hours in using them as Powermatch via the Unified L channel indoors and am at 50%L and around 55%R.

I don’t have enough rides on the new firmware to judge the battery life (only updated 3-4 days ago) but I’ve never had any battery issues in the 3-4 months I’ve had the pedals. Battery life as advertised in my experience.

Thanks! Sorry not sure why it specifically replied to your comment that was just a general question

can you see your L/R power within TR workouts
I have noticed when I do the SLD of @mcneese.chad there is a drop in power from left to right, right being the lower power. You can’t see the balance in TR only the FA app

No, that info is not available in TR. You need to run a different app or head unit in parallel if you want to see and/or record it.

Hey Chad, do you happen to know if there are apps for iPad that will show the L/R balance? My garmin edge 500 finally bit the dust, so I’m head unit-less for a while.

I am not a primary Apple user (my wife has an iPad I use on rare occasions). The one I know had it was the PowerTap app. But it was instant power only and just short of useless the one time I tried it for fun. I don’t know if there are any others with better access to LR data.

Had my first issue this morning with my Duo’s.

About two thirds into the ride there was no output from the right pedal despite the orange LED’s flashing. I had zero’d them a mile in to the ride whilst stationary, not clipped in and at the 6 o’clock position.

I’ve since got home and checked them with the phone App. They are both almost at full battery level with the latest firmware.

Looks like there were a couple of funny miles at the beginning where the right output was high. Cadence is OK though.

I had noticed some odd L/R balance numbers over the last few weeks, just a couple of % either way and not every ride.

The pedals are 9 months old, I’ll contact Clever Training and see what they say.

Keep us posted! I’m assuming they will have you contact Favero directly at this point but I hear their service is good too.

On that assumption, I’ve contacted Favero too. Will let you know. :+1:

I thought that it might be interesting to see when and how the shift in my L/R % balance began. When I looked, I found that I was able to download a CSV from Garmin with my summary ride metrics. So I’ve plotted my %L Balance vs Date and also added Min temperature too. Looks like the beginning of November things started shifting. I think the temperature is a red Herring.

Has anybody else seen their numbers move around this much?

Temperature might not be a red herring if it’s the onboard temperature compensation that’s gone weird maybe?

Regardless of the cause what you are seeing is similar to the fault I had and favero sent me a new pedal spindle that fixed it.

Curious where you found the L/R metrics on Garmin Connect (if that’s where you found it). I’m looking under reports and for cycling it doesn’t give that as an option…

If you go to the activities page, you can download a CSV of all your rides. See top right corner of this screen snip.

You can also change the data displayed on the page by hovering over the edit activity metrics.

Excellent. Got it; thanks!

Here’s an update on my right pedal dropout issue.

@Cleanneon98 was correct, Clever Training Europe referred me to Assioma in the first instance.

Assioma looked at some data from my pedals through their app and then asked me to complete some further sprints on the pedals plus complete 4-5 zero offsets using their app in a row to get more data. They also asked for pictures of the pedal too.

I did this and Assioma can still see the data issues. The pictures demonstrated that I’ve not hit the pedal and damaged it.

Normally Assioma would require the pedal back for inspection and repair but they’ve offered to send a new spindle out straight away if I pay postage and swap it out myself.

They’ve sent a link to “a very nice video” (their words) which happens to be from everybody’s favourite @gpl to demonstrate the swap.

Fingers crossed shipping won’t take too long. I think that this seems a sensible and pragmatic approach.

Clever Training did say any issues and they’d swap or refund the pedals. At least this way I can convert to an Uno and still keep gathering my data.

Cheers

I had an issue with random dropouts as well on my pedals (3 months old) and favero had me run through the same diagnostic steps. (sprints, pics, etc). Once I verified my existing pedals were remotely locked by favero, shipping took 5 days. Pretty fast considering it came from Italy. Hope this solves your issue, the new spindles have been flawless for me since swapping them out.

This does sound like very good post purchase customer service from them. Thanks for reporting on your experiences and the outcome and how they handled the problem.

No product is ever entirely flawless and with manufacturing of mass produced products there are bound to be some issues here and there. The real test is how the supplier / manufacturer handles the issues.

On this instance it appears the answer to that question is - very well. :+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2:

Exactly the same service they offered me - the replacement spindle has been working fine ever since :+1:

I wonder if they’ve made a rolling change to the electronics or design in these updated spindles.
