Look-compatible version of the Assioma PRO finally released:
Hurrah…. now I just need to wait until my DUOs stop working…. but unfortunately they still seem rock solid… so I’m stuck with the pods for now.
Haha, same!
N+1 applies to PMs too. ![]()
FWIW: I’ve been using Look cleats with my original type Assiomas since I got them 7 years ago.
I don’t think that’s the point here - the originals have always been compatible with Look cleats so anyone who has them has likely been using Look cleats. They just updated their Pro model with the Look compatible body, so you can take advantage of the Pro model and still run Look.
I have a pair of Favero bePRO pedals that still work fine, and some Assiomas (original version), so I don’t need any new ones. Nice to know that they exist though, just in case!
I might be able to convince myself that the longer battery life, better aesthetics and bodies that are easier to clip into are worth the money ![]()
Also slightly less switching between bikes…. hmmm…
Yah. Funny (ironic?) that for years it was only Look and people wanted spd-sl or spd. I was running Looks before they came out so it was fine by me. The new pros come out and it’s been the other way…till now. I am currently running the xpedo spd hack on my crusty old Assiomas.
I have DUOs and ordered the new ones as soon as they were released. 50g lighter, no pod, and way better battery life. Plus USB-C for the charging cables. All worth it to me. I bought the new Varia radar so no more micro USB cables!!! So nice being able to toss old cables and use USB-C for everything (not just cycling).
Man. It’d cost me a small fortune to update everything to USB-C from all the micro (and even mini) USB devices I have. Three PMs, for a start…
You mean in the box where you keep the other 27 micro usb cables you have right? Not like the garbage, right? That would be crazy.
Huh? Why would I keep them? My Varia and Assioma are the only electronics I have left that still use micro USB. I’ll be glad to trash them.
Yea, it’s been a slow transition. Happy the iPhone went USB-C. Headphones (Apple and Bose) are now USB-C. Digital camera, GoPro, Insta360. I bought a little adapter for my Di2 to use a standard USB-C cable so I tossed the Shimano proprietary one. Xbox controllers are USB-C now. Apple TV remote. It’s kind of crazy how many electronics once had different types of cables and now it’s all USB-C.
I almost upgraded my Assioma DUOs to the RS version but I have like 5-6 pairs of road shoes and didn’t feel like swapping out that many sets of cleats.
Is this common? Why would you keep them? I’m so confused.
Interesting… well the absence of a pod removes one of my incentives to do the M-force 8 body swap to the original assiomas: the pod’s presence precludes kicking the heel inward to disengage.

But then find that they don’t work or are fragile because the plastic outer sheath & insulation have perished. ![]()
