Has anyone had firsthand experience using Enervit Magic Cherry to aid post-workout recovery?
This has recently been a showcased product from The Feed, and they claim to have discovered Enervit Magic Cherry to be the mysterious unbranded / unlabeled drink Tadej consumes immediately following a race.
One serving contains 300mg of polyphenols and 50mg of anthocyanins. The claimed benefits are activation of antioxidant enzymes, inhibits a primary driver of inflammation, and enhances muscle oxygenation, among other things.
It’s relatively expensive (par for the course with endurance supplements), at $3+ per serving. I am curious to know if others have tried Enervit and have experienced any significant recovery benefit from the product, or if the claimed benefits are marginal at best and if claims such as Tadej’s use of Enervit are just being used as marketing gimmicks.
I have been drinking tart cherry juice for a few years now. Those black cherries are really tart. Not sure the actual difference between plain juice out of the bottle(not from concentrate,no sugar added) and that mix. My bottles do not list the polyphenols or anthocyanins content per serving. If I need carbonation I mix it with a Nixie. Sugar free cola.
Many teams/athletes use cherry drink to aid recovery, not just Pogi. For example, after the uphill TT in the Tour of Switzerland Almeida was shown to enjoy a cherry drink. Also, Visma, EF and Q36.5 use cherry drink by Amacx.
Tart cherry is like a mega-dose of antioxidants. It’s the new cool thing for kick starting the recovery process, and the supplement companies have definitely seen the blood in the water! I believe most of the evidence is anecdotal, but that doesn’t mean it’s invalid. Worth a try, I suppose.
