Ending Ramp Test early

Did my ramp test yesterday and rode about 20 minutes.

I thought I could just end my test whenever I reached my limit (around 250) but I tried to push the End Test button but it kept sending me in a loop back to the test (even pressing Discard wasn’t actually working) and had to actually kill the app to go back to the home screen.

What am I supposed to do when I reach my limit to get the correct FTP calculated?

Stop pedaling. If you can still pedal you haven’t reached your limit.

How does that work being that I’m on a Technogym indoor bike and TrainerRoad isn’t connected to it?

How were you recoding power ?

I was just pedaling at the required power on the Technogym bike. The only piece of equipment paired with TrainerRoad was the HR monitor. There was no way to pair the bike with TrainerRoad AFAIK.

Edit: I see there’s a workaround by pairing Technogym with Strava and have Strava sync with TrainerRoad. Hopefully it won’t record the workout twice. Will try this later today.

I think it is 75% of your 1 minute best power.

Hopefully you finished on a nice full minute but if you did 250 watts for a full step, your ftp is approx 187 watts.

That might have been helpful information in the first post.

You need to record power data for TR to recognize that you’re actually doing the prescribed work in our workouts. That’s probably why we didn’t think you were done with your ramp test.

If you’re planning to do future TR workouts inside, you’ll have to find a way to record power data in the TR app.

Let me know if this helps!

Yup I have since figured it out. Would be great to have known this at onboarding (along maybe with a mini-tutorial on how to pair popular indoor bikes). Maybe obvious to some but it wasn’t to me.

We do have all of that info in our Help Center, which is linked in the app, and we do offer onboarding calls with new athletes.

I think you’re right, though. We could do a better job of having that info handy from the beginning for new athletes.

I’ll pass your feedback along to the team.

Let me know if you have any questions moving forward!
