Not a massive difference…did one group workout with a buddy and then Baxter -2. Seems to hold a little tighter in erg vs. the original Direto…didn’t seem to wander off as much. Still have to pay attention more than on a KICKR or H2/3, but better than it was.
Other than that, seemed pretty much the same. Definitely glad to be back on a Direto. The Kickr was nice, and rock solid in ERG, but I prefer the overall feel of the Direto. Glad I got to try out a KICKR, though…now makes me even more comfortable in my choice.
For TR Erg (small chain ring, mid cassette) it’s pretty quiet. But for Zwift race and group workouts (Big chain ring and big gears) it can be noisy and loud because of the internal fan. The upgraded Direto X should be quieter (new internal cooling fan)
Just a quick update - they have definitely improved the erg mode on the Direto X vs. the Direto. I used to be able to “override” the prescribed wattage if I wanted to and the Direto would not adjust for it. I tried a couple of times this AM to do that and, after an initial surge, it reined me back in to the prescribed wattage within a few seconds.
Still not as responsive as a KICKR, but definitely better than the old Direto.
After 18 months my Direto is making a similar noise.
Sent a contact e-mail direct to Direto, 20 mins later I recieved reply to try a few items, nothing worked so they are sending out a “service kit” to fit (new belt etc). If this doesn’t solve it they inditcated it would be replaced, let’s see.
Elite’s US distributor quickly handled the issue for me once I contacted them. Sent in my unit and had a replacement in my hands within 2 weeks, including ship time to and from them.
Never found out what the cause of the noise was, but they took care if it quickly.
Have a similar noise coming from my orange flywheel. Sounds like bearings to be honest but so loud it’s unusable. Emailed Elite a video and awaiting a response
