Do we even need to accept AIFTP anymore?

Looking at the TR calender do we even still need to accept the AIFTP at the end of 28 day cycle?
I see that the upcoming workouts are already set at what it thinks the AIFTP will be at that time, so what would happen if I would just keep training normally and just going with what the calendar is showing me?

I think it will allow TR to select better workouts within the time slots in your calendar.

I would

Even if you don’t accept it every 28 days, the system will still pick workouts based on your power data. But, eventually if you keep skipping the AI FTP Detection you’ll hit a ceiling sort of speaking when it comes to recommended workouts.

As Nate mentioned, The updated AI FTP Detection you’re getting puts you around a level 3 threshold level. This will be consistent between detections, and we think this is a good insert point into your overall zone progressions to get faster.

The calander you are seeing assumes that you do accept your AIFTP detection when it becomes available.

If you click into the details of a workouts beyond your AI prediction date on the 19th you will see that the FTP is the same as the predicted FTP value - not your current FTP.

So if you did not accept the detection you will be given different workouts to the ones that are shown currently.

For example that level 3.0 threshold workout on the 25th April will be replaced with a level 4+ workout if you kept your current lower FTP.

Looking at the screenshots from that calendar, it has sort of confirmed something I’ve been pondering. Having recently signed back up after some time away, if I accept the AIFTP every 28days and this then places me at a Lvl 3 threshold, won’t I just be getting to same workouts on repeat? A quick look at that calendar seems to suggest quite a fair bit of repetition. Does the current system ever progress you beyond Lvl 3 and in doing so prescribe longer intervals? Or is it a case of constantly resetting you at that level and hopefully doing the workouts with a few more watts?

Your first threshold workout level varies. Some get low 3s. Others get higher. Mine typically is in the low 4s. For this cycle it is Temple a 4.2, if all goes as planned my third will be Carpathian peak a 5.9. My first sweet spot post detection was Antelope +1 and my final in this cycle is Wright Peak -6. So there is some variation. I have SS set to demanding.

No, as Lactic says. My first threshold session this month was not the same as any in the preceding three months.

You’re looking at placeholders. AI reassesses after every/any change in the calendar. Essentially you know the type and length of workouts in advance, you don’t know until the day what the workout will specifically be.

Also, I don’t really pay attention to PLs anymore.

I think that the level 3ish efforts may be more of a thing in base and build but then change more in specialty to reflect the efforts required for the chosen discipline. I’m on 40k TT and would expect to stop seeing FTP increases and level 3 workouts. In their place should be consistent FTP for longer and longer durations.

Yes I see the change in AIFTP, that is why I was wondering if we even needed to attempt FTP every 28 days anymore.

You still have to accept the detection on the 28th day if you want to do the those workouts.

There isn’t an “automatically accept new FTP” function.

Maybe there should be?

There are certain times in the season where I wouldn’t mind the option for an Auto AIFTP accept.
Like now AIFTP up or down I’ll be accepting.

probably b/c ppl will complain. I can already hear it, “TR is auto accepting my AI FTP that I don’t want to take and now my FTP is too high and the workouts are too hard and TR burned me out.”
