That was my first reaction, but from what I have seen, the de minimis exception was just removed for China, not everyone.
That said, it is entirely possible that no one knows what is going on and people are making wrong decisions because there is no cohesion or strategy behind these decisions.
I am located in the Chicago area. I got an alert from UPS telling me the package was not delivered - because I am on vacation I looked at the alert and saw it said I owed money on the delivery.
When I logged onto UPS it said it was the government and brokerage fees - if something is off I could not say but I didn’t call UPS or investigate, I just wanted it delivered so my neighbor could collect it for me.
Anyone know where to get a 2024 or 2025 Giant Revolt frameset online? Only place I’ve found is Bike Tires Direct but they have no Medium frames and no estimated delivery date. I have enough spare parts lying around that I can just about build another bike, if I could only get the frame at a reasonable price. Thanks!
no, it’s for customs brokerage. The service of clearing US customs. UPS started doing this across all of their international shipments that used to be cleared into the country seamlessly under the “de minimis” clause before.
I reached out to my Giant dealer and he says the 2025 has not yet been released and the 2024 size medium is available but not online you have to ask your local Giant dealers. I have no way of knowing if what he’s saying is right, i am merely passing along what he said. Good luck !
FYI…it was just announced that the removal of the de minimis exemption will be delayed. For how long? Who the hell knows…
The order states that de minimis will be restored for small packages shipped from China, “but shall cease to be available for such articles upon notification by the Secretary of Commerce to the President that adequate systems are in place to fully and expediently process and collect tariff revenue” on those items.
There is no cohesive strategy at play here. We (my company) is getting whiplash form trying to keep up with the changes and the possible impact on our business. Hell, there is still no official ruling on whether current tariff exclusions will remain in place until their natural expiration, even though the 10% tariff will be active now.
I was hoping the Melee and Fray would get a price drop like the MOG to $3750, it’s puzzling why 3 basically exact frames from the same brand have close to 20% price difference
they just released new MOG colors all at lower price, and the Melee is the oldest bike at this point, I think it’s the next to be updated before the MOG, but of course I could be wrong. Considering the MOG has UDH, clearance for 50mm, frame storage, there isn’t much for them to change other than potentially making suspension corrected geo with a new fork I guess
