How do you carry out the workouts from Fascat? If I have a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt v2 and a power meter what else do I need? Training peaks paid account, etc??? Trying to figure out what the real cost is to be on Optimize (i.e., costs in addition to the Fascat subscription to use it successfully). At this point I don’t have an probably won’t get sleep and HRV data as i believe all platforms require a subscription? Without this how much of the Fascat plan is lost?
Sorry, haven’t had a chance to answer @WindWarrior 's questions (probably tomorrow morning) but I’d say you need a TP subscription to take full advantage of Optimize. So definitely add that in as part of the cost.
Just in case you missed it above, TP is 25% off right now too, in case you end up doing both.
anyone want to ponder a guess on the weight of these Blur’s?
some info here:
best to move the discussion into that thread. This is for Deals/Sales/Discounts
The link says 23lbs complete bike, but I find that hard to believe. Maybe a cut and paste error?
My Blur, size medium, with a GX groupset was in the high 25 range. Guesing these are a pound or so heavier?
I put on a light group set (XO1 mechanical was on sale), a carbon bar, some light wheels (reserve with s-works fast trak tires) and am right at 23 pounds.
I have a pair of their bibs. They’re pretty good value. The chamois is slightly thick for my liking but not overly so and not something I really notice when I wear them. I’ve ridden them up to 4 hours with no issues but I don’t typically have issues with bib shorts.
I just bought a transmission XXSL cassette from them. Discounted to $510 and arrived in 2 days! ![]()
I bought a Large Blur CC with SID ultimate w/remote last month. 26.5lb assembled.
If you sign in and add it to your cart, they knock 10% off in an email after you close the tab. Mine was $3,338 w/tax delivered.
About that Tacx Neo 2T deal.
I ordered one via Amazon and received it. Here’s what I can deduct from the various shipping labels:
- The product was made in the Netherlands on April 4, 2021, presumably for the North American market (based on the NA power plug included)
- At some point it ended up at a Garmin warehouse in Olathe, KS
- Garmin then shipped 168 units in a single shipment to an Amazon warehouse in Chicagoland. I expect that happened to position inventory for the current sale. I would also expect that they shipped similar quantities to other large domestic markets.
So given that Garmin sat on it for 2.5 years, and then shipped large quantities to a retailers warehouse in preparation for the current sale, I’d say their goal with this excellent sales is to reduce inventory and free up cash. Just my $0.02
Shipping label whisperer!
I get a real kick out of seeing cervelo, bmc and cannondale at 25-30% off for 2023 models and then seeing trek with their generation idea and seeing 2-3 year old generation 3 domanes $100 to 10% off lol. Same dealers with the same bikes just getting a year old in inventory. Going to be like Dodge Ram Trucks soon. Everyone has them. Nobody is buying and overhead is killing them.
Rot in heck trek.
So much hate because you missed the summer sale? A local guy bought a $4300 2022 Checkpoint SL6 AXS for $3300 in July (23% off), have the receipt for warranty work. I bought it from him in October for $2500. Had to buy and replace a $2 screw
Inspected, waxed the chain, like new.
Not hate. Just reality. Summer sale? Lol. Nice shot and we dont have summer sales. 2-3 year old domanes go on sale for $100 off regular price. My local dealer still has 2022 gen 3 domane sl5’s going for full price at $5429. Glad things are better for you where you are. Been a trek fan for a number of years. And before that specialized. Treks bullshit of going generations was the final straw for me. A 3 year old bike sitting on the floor at full price. Keep it. I’m a dodge ram truck guy. Check those dealerships for prices and inventory. They will need to keep those as well. Covids over along with the profiteering. These companies need to wake up or just keep their product.
I am Right there with you, some businesses need to get to dropping price. I’m trying to buy a car and dealers have stuff on lots for 4 months and won’t lower the price. It’s not moving off the lot at 2022 pricing
Getting mad at a brand because a dealer is selling old inventory at full retail completely misses the mark……
Sounds to me like th LBS is not a very good business person……first, if they have 3 year old inventory in the floor, that means they have been sitting on it through the entirety of COVID boom….not sure how that is possible.
Secondly, they have long ago paid for that inventory and that money is now wrapped up in those bikes, just sitting on their floor. Someone needs to explain basic concepts to them such as inventory turn and open to buy.
Finally, Trek has nothing to do with their insistence on charging full retail on that old inventory… that is the LBS’ decision.
I agree. Cervelo, Santa Cruz Blur CC bikes, they’re massively discounted, I see zero reason to look at Trek’s or Specialized (specialized do have some good deals, but typically I’m seeing them on eMTB and other bikes that don’t sell well or appeal to me).
Compared to 2020, I would say late 2023 is a pretty great time to be looking for a new bike, provided you aren’t set on a Trek etc.
I was interested in a gravel bike and bought a barely used Checkpoint sl6. With upgraded mullet I’m at $3300.
Comparable local new bikes before taxes
- Specialized Diverge Expert is 20% off, down to $5000
- Santa Cruz Stigmata Rival 1x at $4900
- Cervelo Aspero Rival 1x is 25% off at $4125
- Trek Checkpoint sl6 Rival 1x is $4300
We can debate other specs but all those are Rival 1x drivetrains. Trek list price looks ok to me. I’ve got my own gravel wheelset.
