It has been awhile since I have seen the breakdown on Garmin’s business, but IIRC, the Sports segment was a significantly smaller piece of their business than everything else.
Sports is flashy, but marine and aviation pay the bills.
Having worked in parallel industries, my guess is that the R&D done for sports is also applicable to the other markets. Once you know how to make something very small, making it larger is much easier.

I think I’ve settled on anything below 40F and I’ll just ride inside. Getting geared up for colder rides is such a pain.

Yup….40*F is my cutoff. Anything below that, I’m on the trainer.
It used to be 32*, but as I have gotten older and indoor training has gotten better, my desire to suffer outside is directly related to the temperature direction.
