So this may be part of a larger thing at Chain Reaction, but I have had my eye on a new trainer desk for a while, and the Rad cycling trainer desk is the one I’ve been eyeballing. (See @dcrainmaker’s review at the link… specifically, he says: “However, in this rare case, I think the RAD/Lifeline trainer desk is actually better than Wahoo’s KICKR Desk. Simply put, it’s got two water bottle holders and wheel locks that Wahoo lacks. These are functionally useful. Plus, obviously it’s roughly half the price of Wahoo’s option.”)
Unfortunately, its price went up to $160 on Amazon sometime in December, so I missed the $89 deals that were there earlier last year. That said the Lifeline desk is the same as the Rad cycling desk (as dcrainmaker notes), so a little Google shopping today unearthed it on Chain Reaction for $69USD!!
Even shipped (for $38) to the US, it’s still $11 cheaper (after taxes) than the Rad desk is currently listed on Wal-Mart, and more than $60 cheaper than Amazon (but you do have to wait about four more days for shipping). And $107 shipped to my house compared to $299 list for the Kickr desk? Hmmm…
ETA: As @Power13 noted, you can get FREE shipping if you order ~$6 worth of gels or something similar.
Anyway, if you’re in the market to replace the free used music stand you picked up from a high school four years ago (or is that just me??) so you can do actual (coaching) work while spinning endurance miles, this could be your best bet.
If this thread were to bifurcate, I think each new thread will continue to have both equipment and nutrition posts eventually. Perhaps too nuanced.
Glad I didn’t have to use up my monthly quota of the word trifurcate. I reserve that for work meetings when I want to sound smart. I draw pictures for a living, so it really takes people by surprise when I use such advanced word talk.
Why is this a bad thing? I’m not acquainted with The Feed at all, but I’m curious as to the strong reaction. Can you share a little about why that sounds so negative to you?
The Feed isn’t terrible in my experience, but rarely the best prices. And they’ll advertise sales or give out discount codes, but the prices are so high to start that even with the discount, it’s more expensive than elsewhere. It really just means you’re guaranteed to pay more with no other options.
In addition to what the others showed, The Feed is yet another property that went heavily into Lance Podcast advertising, which means they get big fast and charge silly prices and/or don’t do what they claim to do. I try not to give those companies my money. I don’t want to turn this into a debate on LA or those products though, so let’s leave it at that.
I purchase a fair amount at The Feed but only with a coupon code or the account credits they like to throw around. If I need something and don’t have one of those there are typically cheaper options out there.
