Almost always the case. People like a challenge; so any sort of public reference to achievement, however minor is likely to be seen (by some) as a throwing down of the gauntlet.
Side effect of peoples competitive sporting nature I guess

My only request is to respect the spirit of the segment and start in bed with the sheets tucked in at the foot. Also, please don’t cheat and use a car.
