But it’s not the power that you can maintain for 60 minutes and everyone TTE is going to be different at FTP power.

Honestly, at this point, define FTP however you want and what works for your training. If you’re using TR, it seems like it would behoove you to use their AIFTP and let the system assign you workouts based on that. Jonathon mentioned stepping away from an FTP number as a training progression, and honestly, that would probably be best.

I personally think of it as my hourish power (or the power I’m pushing my TTE to for an hour through progressive overload).

But one thing is for sure, when talking to your friends, it’s always 300.

i know your truth

this is my white flag

I’m still hoping for the day when Coggan finally admits that FTP is completely arbitrary and has no greater relevance than any other point on an athletes power curve :folded_hands:

ā€œit’s not exactly 60 minutes it hasn’t ever been 60 minutesā€ Andrew Coggan

I don’t own the third edition (wouldn’t give him a penny), I brought it up because again he is the one that said he changed it in the third edition because he was sick of people calling it hour power. You’ve been provided quotes from him and links to listen to him state its not an hour but you are for some reason keep claiming he says something he doesn’t.

It was originally misspelled so I didn’t think we’d hit 3 instances of it being said but then someone went and said it twice and it was all over.

If you listen to the Empirical Cycling FTP test method’s episode. Going by feel is one of the options.

Or, just a thought, listen to the one where he says its not an hour. Especially since its been linked and easy to find. And also has the answer.

Let’s get back on topic, please, and post the disparaging content over on Reddit.

This thread is going off the FTP rails. Good Lord.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the new features.

My greatest dream software update is that TR will somehow discover my single sided power pedals have only been reporting half of my power, and that my FTP is actually DOUBLE what I thought it was!

EDIT - second greatest software update would be TR talks to my smart refrigerator and locks the door if I’ve hit my calorie target for the day.

We requested the opposite years ago: alert during workouts when to take gels/water :slightly_smiling_face:

Should protect your fridge by proxy.

How do this work with heat training?

Low power with extreme heart rate must confuse it?

This looks amazing. The interface is great.

So excited for this! My desktop TR now shows the ā€œAI Training Simulationā€ block on the calendar, but it’s not obvious to me where the FTP Prediction feature is, or how to engage it- anyone find that yet?

I was just wondering that as well! Got the new home page but couldn’t see the forecast.

Didn’t poke too hard mind you! Will just see what it does and carry on training!

I don’t think it’s out yet. Believe Nate mentioned it in the Beta thread they may open it next week.

Sorry @Nate_Pearson , are you saying predicted FTP isn’t launching now, or the Monte Carlo scenario planner isn’t launching right away?

FTP Prediction isn’t live yet and hasn’t been in the beta.

The Monte Carlo stuff may not even be built yet, so that part is not imminent.
