Coming Soon: See Your Fitness Before You Get There 🤭

We only predict 4 weeks into the future, but you could manipulate your plan to see if it’s possible.

But…it doesn’t show you the impossible. You can’t just add more volume and have your FTP go up. Everyone will have a point where the more volume they add the lower their FTP will be due to over training and the added rest needed.

It’s not out yet. We’re working on it and you’ll be notified when it’s released.

Not at first, but it’s one of the first things to add once the dust settles. We had to make the decision of launching and users clicking a few options to try different plans, or potentially missing Jan 1st which would be awful for us.

I view it like those retirement account predictions. The further away the date is the more uncertainty and bigger the spread is.

Also, this is a big server cost for us (hundreds of thousands per year) and adding a bigger window increases the cost.

As all things in tech, things will get more efficient and servers will cost less. But we think that the four week simulation window works really well and feels good.

The drip campaign for our launch started 4 days ago on Christmas. Is that what you’re talking about seeing too much of?

We do have ads for TrainerRoad run on our forum, but they are just standard banner ads like this:

And we don’t even have that many. I think it’s justified for us to run a few ads for our product on our free forum.

Next podcast I talk about everything we’ve worked on and why we’re doing a big release like this.

It’s been a LOT of effort but I’m really proud of what we’ve done. In testing, we’ve really improved our metrics and the closed beta feedback has been fantastic.

I like that idea of syncing membership to the forum so that we can turn off ads for those people.

I’ve also wanted a badge that shows who’s signed up and who isn’t.

That takes engineering effort though and I’ve prioritized other features like the ones we’re launching above that.

I had to reread this a few times because I wasn’t sure where you were going with volume? I may have misunderstood this feature.

Great to see a response directly from you, Nate! Based on all of the news rolling out, I’m guessing you’ve been really busy for quite a while now (perhaps on the ā€˜Aggressive’ plan, instead of the ā€˜Balanced’ plan    ). Definitely looking forward to seeing the changes in the near future, and seeing how you’ve implemented everything.

And, in reading your response to @Monkeyevil , it sounds like I may want to rethink my approach to my next round of TR training plan, since I selected ā€˜Demanding’, instead of ā€˜Balanced’ (I didn’t go as far as ā€˜Aggressive’). I’ve got a month until the new round starts, though, so hopefully the new features will be up-and-running, and I’ll have some additional thoughts (and feedback) by then.

Thanks for all you, and the team, do!

Wouldn’t want any taken away from any actual product development. They generally don’t bother me just sometimes the middle of the page ones are a little much.

Does ā€œin your planā€ mean that all is based on the stock plan structure / plan builder?

I’d love if it wasn’t dependent on a plan but would work out the workouts / structure completely free and independent of a pre set plan structure.

And could you drop a word on triathlon / other sports. Would be nice if I could block days for hard interval run and long run and TR AI would plan the bike workouts around that!!

The suggested details of the new ai is what Xert is already doing, so a specific detail or two on how different would be nice for decision making.

Ignoring for a moment that is an article from 10 years ago this is an actual quote from him in the last 3 years:

ā€œit’s not exactly 60 minutes it hasn’t ever been 60 minutesā€ (was trying to transcribe from podcast so hopefully got that right) Forgot to pause it think its about 26 min 30 second where he says it, little after that

Even in your link/quote above he never claims that the 1 hour TT he suggests you look at was more than sustainable threshold power for pacing.

I’d you’re in this forum and a TR user, you’re already pretty much a AI Guided Training Convert. :person_biking:t3::dashing_away:

My understanding is another platform gives you a higher FTP with the more volume you add. This of course isn’t correct, and everyone has a different amount they can take at different points in the training.

With TrainerRoad AI, you can’t just keep adding volume and get into the ā€œtoxicā€ state I think that was being explained. It has a natural check in it where you add too much intensity/volume you’ll get a lower FTP.

You’ll be able to adjust it and see which one is best for you.

This is a feature we’ll automate after this release settles down.

If I’m not mistaken Friel mentions doing a 30 minute all out effort and that’s your ā€œftpā€. I’ve personally had great success using a number I can hold for 35-40 minutes.

Because FTP is not an hour effort.

Quoting directly from Coggan. ā€œIt’s not exactly 60 minutesā€ ā€œit’s never been exactly 60 minutesā€

Simplifying it to exactly 60 minutes is a misunderstanding of the fundamental concept of FTP

LOL are you kidding??? ā€˜drip ads’??? more like the niagra falls…all over social media platforms and as you can see many are finding them irritating.
I’ve just joined TR…a month ago…and prior was a member of TrainingPeaks…no ads proclaiming amazing stuff coming soon.
I just want an AI run training program that works and shows my progress…honestly TR doesn’t really show much in the way of progress…Garmin Connect actually shows a lot more as does my Strava Premium membership.

Oh, you’re not liking how we’re talking about our new feature on social media and you want an AI Running platform.

We’re a cycling training platform first and we’re going to post about our biggest launch ever on our social media platforms.

Honestly I don’t think we are the right product for you. Let me know and Ill refund you and delete your account, no worries!
