We only predict 4 weeks into the future, but you could manipulate your plan to see if itās possible.
Butā¦it doesnāt show you the impossible. You canāt just add more volume and have your FTP go up. Everyone will have a point where the more volume they add the lower their FTP will be due to over training and the added rest needed.
Not at first, but itās one of the first things to add once the dust settles. We had to make the decision of launching and users clicking a few options to try different plans, or potentially missing Jan 1st which would be awful for us.
I view it like those retirement account predictions. The further away the date is the more uncertainty and bigger the spread is.
Also, this is a big server cost for us (hundreds of thousands per year) and adding a bigger window increases the cost.
As all things in tech, things will get more efficient and servers will cost less. But we think that the four week simulation window works really well and feels good.
Next podcast I talk about everything weāve worked on and why weāre doing a big release like this.
Itās been a LOT of effort but Iām really proud of what weāve done. In testing, weāve really improved our metrics and the closed beta feedback has been fantastic.
Great to see a response directly from you, Nate! Based on all of the news rolling out, Iām guessing youāve been really busy for quite a while now (perhaps on the āAggressiveā plan, instead of the āBalancedā plan ). Definitely looking forward to seeing the changes in the near future, and seeing how youāve implemented everything.
And, in reading your response to @Monkeyevil , it sounds like I may want to rethink my approach to my next round of TR training plan, since I selected āDemandingā, instead of āBalancedā (I didnāt go as far as āAggressiveā). Iāve got a month until the new round starts, though, so hopefully the new features will be up-and-running, and Iāll have some additional thoughts (and feedback) by then.
Wouldnāt want any taken away from any actual product development. They generally donāt bother me just sometimes the middle of the page ones are a little much.
Does āin your planā mean that all is based on the stock plan structure / plan builder?
Iād love if it wasnāt dependent on a plan but would work out the workouts / structure completely free and independent of a pre set plan structure.
And could you drop a word on triathlon / other sports. Would be nice if I could block days for hard interval run and long run and TR AI would plan the bike workouts around that!!
Ignoring for a moment that is an article from 10 years ago this is an actual quote from him in the last 3 years:
āitās not exactly 60 minutes it hasnāt ever been 60 minutesā (was trying to transcribe from podcast so hopefully got that right) Forgot to pause it think its about 26 min 30 second where he says it, little after that
Even in your link/quote above he never claims that the 1 hour TT he suggests you look at was more than sustainable threshold power for pacing.
My understanding is another platform gives you a higher FTP with the more volume you add. This of course isnāt correct, and everyone has a different amount they can take at different points in the training.
With TrainerRoad AI, you canāt just keep adding volume and get into the ātoxicā state I think that was being explained. It has a natural check in it where you add too much intensity/volume youāll get a lower FTP.
If Iām not mistaken Friel mentions doing a 30 minute all out effort and thatās your āftpā. Iāve personally had great success using a number I can hold for 35-40 minutes.
LOL are you kidding??? ādrip adsā??? more like the niagra fallsā¦all over social media platforms and as you can see many are finding them irritating.
Iāve just joined TRā¦a month agoā¦and prior was a member of TrainingPeaksā¦no ads proclaiming amazing stuff coming soon.
I just want an AI run training program that works and shows my progressā¦honestly TR doesnāt really show much in the way of progressā¦Garmin Connect actually shows a lot more as does my Strava Premium membership.
