Choosing longer workout in 'alternate workouts' doesn't work

I wanted to ride a 75 minute workout vs. the scheduled 60 minute workout. I went to alternates, and selected 75 minute and hit start. However, a 60 minute workout loaded. Is it not possible to choose a longer duration workout via the alternates menu?

To make sure it wasnt a fluke, I tried again with a different workout (choose a 60 minute workout, select alternate, adjust to 75 minute, hit start). Same issue

Did you actually select the 75 minute workout and then “Replace” in the app?

I’m just did a 90 min alternate from my scheduled 60 minute today…no issues.

Same - did that this weekend for the first time. No issue.

Hey there and welcome to the TR community!

As other athletes mentioned above, make sure to hit “Replace.”

This article goes over how the Workout Alternates feature functions in full detail if you need it:

Hope that helps clear things up! If you still have any trouble, let us know and we can look into this further.

I believe I know how this happened, and I think there could be a user interface enhancement here.

It’s not too bad on the desktop app - but on a mobile app the alternate workouts are barely visible and it isn’t clear that you’re meant to scroll down and select them. It could be interpreted that you just select the new time and difficulty and hit “load”.

This is how it is viewed on my Pixel 8 - I assume that on some devices with different resolution/ratio screens you wouldn’t be able to see any of the first alternate at all so how would you know it was there?

I think something like this would be possible for instance…
