Canyon Bikes Experiences?

The vast majority of riders with PF BBs are out riding their bikes. They aren’t sitting on the sidelines looking for Hambini type BB solutions.

Anyone ride a Grizl?

I wasn’t in the market for a new bike but I’m needing to replace some parts I broke in September. Still waiting on them. Between the delay and costs I’m thinking maybe I’ll just get a new bike.

Looking at the Grizl CF 7 or 8. It’s got most of what I need, and importantly, is in stock.

The value isn’t the best in Canada but it’s still cheaper than some of the alternatives. I looked at the Giant Revolt but am not finding much in stock. I think the Grizl looks a bit nicer too.

I just bought a grizl bc lbs didn’t have any xl diverges. The whole process was very smooth. The bike is awesome and I spent about 1300 less than the comparable diverge. I’m happy😀.

I’m in Canada as well and from what I understand the price on the site is approx. 2/3 final cost when you factor in duties and taxes.

Yep.

If I do order I’ll probably order it to AB so at least I save on provincial sales tax.

Even if I paid duty and full tax in MB the Canyons are still a pretty good value. Nothing crazy but you’re coming in a few hundred bucka on something comparable.

Good luck with whatever you choose. Crazy time to buy a bike these days and if they have what you want I totally get it. Sucks that we pay the extra duties compared those south of the border but whattaya gonna do. Good luck.

i got a grizl a few months ago too. cf six 8 with 2x grx di2 for $5k (us). i love it.

Nice. The SLXs are way out of my price range. That bike would come to $8300cdn. Ha. Ugh.

It’d be $8300 USD if said “Specialized” on the down tube. My friend has a CF SL grizl and he likes his too.

Riding an Endurace cf sl 8. It’s my 3rd canyon after a Spectral and Grail : on,and I can honestly say it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. Owned several Sworks and made in Italy Colnago, jewel bikes kind of crap but none of these performed like my actual Endurace. 5k euro delivered at home, sram force with powermeter and carbon wheels . Same specs on a trek/specialized/Cannondale etc ? At least 1500/1800 euro more.

I was almost set on a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX, the 7k one with ultegra/power meter, but then cannondale’s new supersix evo 2 caught my eye given it’s price at $5.5k. No power meter, but it sounds like I’d be better off getting favero pedals here, which would bump up the price more, but still well below the canyon. I’m really torn right now. It appears LBS will support either, even if not bought there so that’s not an issue. I’m fairly new to cycling so the specs look even to me, but maybe not?

Looks-wise, pretty much a wash as I’m looking at the understated “raw” version of the evo2. It’s a bit too minimal for me so I’d give the slight edge to Canyon, but then I do like the dropped seat stay look more on the cannondale. Decisions decisions

I have the cheapest Ultimate (sram rival) and I am oh so very happy with it. I might have gone Cannondale if the timing had worked out differently, just for sake of supporting my local (team sponsor) bike shop. But, eh… hard to feel any actual regret when the bike is so perfect for me. (FWIW, geometry between the two seemed pretty different, with giant and canyon seeming more similar and cannondale being the outlier, but I might not be remembering right–worth checking.)

I have a inflite and ( knock on :wood:) it’s been flawless.
I use it for gravel, CX and road. Only regret I have is not buying a bike from a local shop, but with the budget I had. I went with the best option for my budget.

I just bought a Cannondale Supersix Evo ( not the new 2023). Yeah the Cannondale has a bit higher stack and slightly more relaxed which fits me well. But even with nearly a 1000$. Off it still is no way near the value of a canyon.

The thing I really dislike is that they don’t let you spec the cockpit you want and the new ultimate and aeroad cockpits are never in stock…

Ive had an ultimate from new for about 4 years. Some issues early on - bike had the wrong derailleur hanger which took me a while to figure out, found Canyon very good to deal with. Had a nasty accident and broke the fork, they have a crash policy - 3 years I think, and id had it more than 3 years they still supplied a fork at cost price despite being out of warranty.

It’s my only bike, it flies. Group rides, races, even do TT’s on it.

Id love an aeroad though.

For the very tall rider, really not many other affordable options. My 6’8" collegiate racer son has Aeroad and 2 Inflites (and had an Exceed in HS), and has been very happy. And much less than his 6’9" uncle’s custom Zinns!

Have a 2023 Aeroad SLX 12spd shimano with 4iiii PM. Love it. No seatpost issues, surprisingly comfortable. I huge factor also is the DT swiss dicut wheels. Handles 10-15 mph crosswinds incredibly well…almost like magic. I have the 62mm deep, also.

Build wise the canyon is amazing. You can see that whoever assembles this goes the extra length. No paint run-off, every bolt was torqued to spec when it arrived. I was impressed with the bike before I even pedaled it. Then was even more impressed when I started riding it.

Hi all,

I am a little lost of the discussion in my head.

I would really love the canyon aeroad, i live in mostly flat/some hilly part of the world where i think the aeroad would be good. BUT i am a bit worried about the 62mm wheels, because we have a lot of wind where i live.

At the same time, i am thinking of doing la marmotte next year, and i am wondering, if the aeroad would be okay to ride this? I know it can be very windy in some places.

I am thinking about the aeroad cfr with dura ace. But i am also thinking of the ultimate with ultegra, which i think is a bargain price wise?
Also i am thinking the Tarmac SL8.

What to do - is the aeroad okay with the wheels ?

Deep wheels are much better in winds these days, I run 60mm deep and never had a problem even on some pretty windy days.

For the price difference between an Aeroad and an equivalently specced SL8 you can buy a decent second set of wheels anyway! Main concern with the Aeroad would be whether the bars are the right size for you as it’s not an option to swap out at purchase and they have little to no stock of replacements. And with a direct sales model obviously you don’t have a local bike shop/dealer who might be able to include a change in your purchase.

Canyon are good value, but if you want to adjust the cockpit fit, you are probably not able to buy a replacement cockpit with a different size: They sold them till some months ago, but they were never in stock. Now they are not even listen anymore. Also there was no communication about that. :frowning:
