Can we train our bodies to better tolerate fructose and how?

If I use gels/ drinks with fructose in I suffer GI distress. I’ve noticed that if I eat fruit before a workout this does not happen. I’m wondering if this is about the concentration of fructose/ length of time taken for (so amount overall).
I figure if we train ourselves to absorb more carbs, we should be able to train our guts to process fructose better?
Has anyone managed this? And how?

No matter what what you may think about what the effects of excessive sugar on our bodies are, and this had been discussed extensively on here, I’ve always been under the impression that of all the sugars fructose in large amounts is the real bad boy. A Tale of Two Sugars - Dr. Phil Maffetone
