Calibration beyond my ability

Hi everyone.
I’ve had an Elite Tuo smart trainer to try out. Very sturdy, well designed bit of kit…
I’ve downloaded the elite myETraining app and attempted calibration through that.
I found it very, very hard to attain the stipulated speed of 33.9kph, (53x12, as hard as I can go) but I did manage it. However, nothing happened. No green tick, no “stop peddling “……zilch, zero, stuff all.
So I created a docket with Elite and they got back to me saying I hadn’t reached the necessary speed, which now was 40kph.
I’m not a TdF contender, but I can, with a good bit of effort, get up to 40kph on the road. The original 33.9kph is quite achievable.
There is no way I could get to 40kph on this trainer….absolutely no way.
I’ve been over the roller setup/warmup so many times I know them by heart!
Before I get back to Elite, has anyone else had an experience like this? Should calibration be a max, leg breaking effort, on any smart trainer?
PS: TR say that calibration is not available through the TR app. Tried Zwift, briefly, but no go there.

I think I did have this problem, but for the life of me can’t recall what the fix was. I use a Zumo.

Something wasn’t configured iirc. Elite were pretty quick to get back to me. I also exchanged data with them to get a better power reading, but ultimately I used and still use power link with my p1 pedals instead.

Thank you. At least, maybe, it’s not just my spaghetti legs that may potentially be the issue!

Could the wheel size be entered wrongly?

I remember experiencing this when I first got my KICKR CORE. It was one of the most demoralizing moments I can remember. :smiling_face_with_tear:

I think that @Adamoon might be on to something though. I’d check your wheel size settings and run through all the other settings as well.

Additionally, there’s no way you’re the first one to bring this up to Elite, and someone there must know what’s going on with this. Not everyone will be able to overpower the trainer straight out of the box depending on how its been calibrated in the factory…

Hi,

I have the same trainer as you but had no issues with calibration through the Elite app. Have you updated to the latest firmware update?
When connected by ant+ TR didnt offer their own calibration but via BT it did. Might be worth trying Bt and calibrating through the TR app

Thanks. I’ll try with BT. The firmware is up to date and the wheel size is at 2070.
