Black Shoes/White Socks

I have black shoes because white shoes are hard to keep clean. I bought Pongo socks that are white and say “WHITE SOCKS” on the back. Hopefully it drives someone crazy.

I only wear the white shoes on clear sunny days. Black shoes for everything else.

Well, this thread is about matching the colors of your cycling shoes and apparel, which imo is not a very serious subject. The colors have no effect on your performance on the bike.

Haha guessing you were replying to my post, but yes, ignoring the branding of Pas Normal Studios, there are just certain things I am pretty strict about.

White shoes, white socks and white helmet always.

Just keeps it simple. I run black or beige bibs, then the jersey can be the thing you kind of experiment with.

Just like socks should always match pant colour off the bike, dark blue jeans = dark blue socks etc etc.

I am pretty anal about those things though, also never wear anything else but white T-shirts and and shirts, no logos, etc.

Kind of capsule wardrobe thinking both on and off the bike!

Debate. Done.

White shoes and black socks are the bee’s knees. The other way around is a classic look, can’t argue with that.

My road shoes right now happen to be black so I wear a lot of colored and patterned socks, trying to match a color in my jersey if I can.

Helmet is always white/silver, but I have an extra that is black/red when it’s not too hot out.

Between the Sagan and Merckx pictures, the moral of the story seems to be: If you’re the World Champ, you can do whatever you want. Which is understandable.

I have one helmet that is white. Used to have a black one but crashed and busted it, so I bought a white one because I thought it looked better. Never even crossed my mind to have more than one helmet, let alone various colors. As far as socks, I don’t even own a pair of white socks, cycling or otherwise. I usually wear solid colors: blue, pink, black. The white shoes are a new addition last summer and only worn on sunny days, usually with solid blue socks to match the club kit. And that’s just because I’m lazy and want to keep them clean. Might have to buy some white socks to match but I can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of plain white socks.

And to go off-topic a bit because you mentioned it, all my dress socks are crazy patterns and colors. I hate the boring single color dress socks. I’ll match shoes to belt, but socks are always wild.

IME no one notices or cares what you wear unless you are crushing souls or getting dropped.

More and more are wrapping helmets to match kits which I think is super fly. Custom socks to match and white shoes.

Back when shoes were black leather I think all we had were white socks (and black leather helmets). I never thought about it back then. When Lance started the black sock trend I thought it was cool but, now think black socks with white shoes looks off. I’m back to white shoes and socks with a mostly white helmet. Trying to get our team to do a custom wrap…

I love the fact that there are no rules today and we have so many options. The PNS/Rapha guy next to the brown shoe rainbow/pot leaf sock guy is refreshing.

Sounds like someone has some strong sock game! :+1:

This thread makes me just want to drop the next person I see wearing white shoes/socks/helmet.

Let the legs do the talking!

Exactly, if sagan cannot pull it off nobody can.

I wear my ALDI mtb socks on my roadie, which literally have MTB stiched at the back of the leg for everyone to see, because…F U, thats why

Curious how you all feel about black shoes and white ankle socks?

Sadly, you won’t.

At least my bashed about corpse will look fashionable!

/Joking for clarity

What I’m hearing is; split the difference.

I thought it used to be black socks for winter/training and white socks for summer/racing. Or am I remembering wrong? And it was white bar tape for the team leader only.

I wear white shoes and helmet. My favourite socks are both from Fingers Crossed:

And i think it looks fantastic with the yellow shirt.

Don’t be silly. Those are examples of professional cyclists. They always break the rules. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
