+1 for RTJ
Positive training responses were observed in subjects exposed to Andrew W.K.
Ha! My 5 year old loves Party Hard. Mainly because of the album cover. He frequently points out that his nose is bleeding and asks why. Good question. The sound is good tho!
Practically any song on these two records should do the job. Yeah, I think in terms of albums still.

Love this thread!
Here’s my Go-to for FTP Ramp Tests. Builds in both intensity, and frequently the felt BPM (not actual) to keep the cadence and power up to avoid the ERG death-spiral! Found that the key to a playlist is to avoid songs with a slow build and that more or less drops relatively immediately to avoid any lull.
- Lenny Kravitz: Where are we Runnin
- Prodigy: Breathe
- Incubus: Make a Move
- Chili Peppers: Suck my Kiss
- Lenny Kravitz: Fly Away
- Chemical Brothers: Block Rockin Beats
- Alterbridge: Metalingus
- The Offspring: Cant Get my Head Around You
- Green Day: Basket Case (The whole Dookie album is awesome to ride to)
- Sixx:A.M.: Lies of the Beautiful People (Hidden Gem)
- Linkin Park: Dont Stay
- Green Day: Welcome to Paradise
- Crystal Method: Name of the Game
- Outkast: Bombs Over Baghdad
(And anything by Bulletproof Messenger of course )
space truckin and child in time tonight on over-unders…always works
If Purple is your game, how about Burn…
Highway Star and Stormbringer is also recommended for threshold intervals
Sullivan King is how I use for my ramp test and hardest workouts. It dubstep with some face melting guitar mixed in.
If you’re into electronic music, Nero’s “Welcome Reality” album is pretty epic, and what I generally use for Ramp Tests.
High tempo, usually female vocalists
Offspring!!!
I will give this a go - I am into electronic but key is no lyrics…when going hard i hate (really really hate) lyrics.
Simbian Mobile Disco ‘welcome to sideways’ album…also Bicep…and my absolute go-to when in real trouble Mogwai’s My Father My King
Hummm… there are a lot of tunes on that album with lyrics… I was just looking through my playlists to see what else I could suggest, and everything seems to have lyrics! Tiesto had some good stuff in his early days (think Parade of the Athletes, Adagio for Strings), Knife Party and early Skrillex I think were largely lyric-absent if you’re into that… most lyric-less electronic music I can think of is more trace-like, and probably better suited to sweet spot work or steady state efforts. Good luck!
Is this similar to MachineHead by Bush?
Some of them were already in my favorites. That’s the kind of power I need to keep me going.
Used ‘fight through the pain’…see what you mean about Sullivan King melting your face. nice recco.
thanks for this - i’m going to work through these recco’s. Have you ever tried Anna Meredith’s R’Type for a 5 minute effort?
Actually, i can cope with lyrics - but has to fit the inteval vibe.
