Machine head by Stone Temple Pilots is good for 110 cadence work
Quite a different genre, but epic movie themes get you through a 20 minute FTP test or VO2 max repeats like nothing else.
Audiomachine crank these out. If you can land the track below in the final couple minutes of an FTP test it does wonders (or anything else off off that album tbh):
2ZEI also do a bunch of similar epic tracks for film:
Playlist with more of the same here: Spotify
For any sort of high intensity short interval, Motley Crue “Kickstart my Heart”, repeat each interval.
I like to start a hard workout off with “For Those about to Rock” by AC/DC during the warmup.
Some of my go tos would include:
Disasterpiece - Slipknot
The Blister Exists - Slipknot
Laid to Ruin - Lamb of God
The Heretic Anthem - Slipknot
Lift me Up - Five Finger Death Punch
Bark at the Moon - Ozzy
Angle of Death - Slayer
Pretty much anything aggressive and heavy!
Threshold = Tool (their recent Fear Inoculum release has five tracks >10 minutes that absolutely puts me over the hardest of threshold workouts)
This is one of my go to VO2max playlists:
Sometimes I start and stop Western Addiction for the work intervals. This adds 15 watts to your FTP
also check out there other albums, here’s the latest:
@Dsofield I also love Hail to the King! My top three would be Burn It To The Ground (Nickelback), Ten Thousand Fists (Disturbed), and Thunderstruck (AC/DC - of course!)
@Joey Rammstein is for some high quality pedal mashing! Love it!
@bsladics She Sells Sanctuary is one of my favorites for kicking into a gnarly Threshold set!
Rollin - Limb Bizkit (don’t judge…)
Mama said knock u out - FF Death Punch
All Out life - Slipknot
Friday Night by Vigiland
Danny Don’t You Know, Ninja Sex Party
I’m Good, GRiZ
Screamer, Third Eye Blind
Of course it’s of personal preference, but I was quite amused I had
“Burn” by Deep Purple
coming up during my overs and unders today while the “Chad” (the text…) was talking about pedaling through the burn ;-).
Here’s my 5K Metal playlist but it’s expanded to cover a 12K I did back in August.
Also, here is a somewhat obscure song, “There’s Room For One More”, that’s nice and angsty.
Particularly, Oh My Darling by RTJ. Nice!
RTJ can get you through some shit
This is my music for Ramp Test :slight_smile
For tempo/sweet spot/ threshold definitely 90’s hip hop
For hard vo2 max nothing better than rage against machine
Also powerman 5000 good for hard stuff
Out of left field I’ve watched this clip- wiggins hour record and it’s great when you’re digging deep
Particularly the commentary from 1:07:00 onwards if you apply it to yourself!!
Fire in my Soul - Oliver Heldens
Rage - Sander van Doorn
Send It - 12th Planet
YUCK - JOYRYDE, Gold
Generally, my playlist that is filled with very angry music.
