Appreciation for Alex Wild’s mental attitude, podcast 592

In middle of listening to podcast 592 that is titled something like ‘He fired ChatGBT as a coach’ but I think the headline buries the lead. I was impressed and inspired to listen to how Alex Wild has approached his setback from illness and what it models for all of us of varying cycling ability - to appreciate what we still can do, to focus less on whatever our ftp might be and ask how we can thrive on the bike in other ways, and last, to feel grateful to be able to use our bodies to help us enjoy this sport we love. I found it incredibly refreshing and emotionally healthy in this age of forever optimization, competition, and comparison to our friends and former selves. Also thanks to Jonathan for leading a conversation of depth, which is no easy feat. :folded_hands:

Alex is one of my favorite repeat guests on the podcast. Always want to hear what he has to say.

I agree alex has a great attitude and @Jonathan always has a positive podcast. It is refreshing.

It’s a shame that I have to stumble upon this thread to get interested in a particular episode. Because its actual title is such a clickbait that it makes me wanna puke. Oh, well.

The ChatGpt talk was like 2 minutes of the episode so that was the classic clickbait title.

If you watch it on YT and have YT premium you can use the AI feature to summarize the video so it shows a break done their discussions so you can more easily decide what’s interesting

On the podcast Overcast it also lists out the topic breakdowns

Alex was honest about his process and struggles while still being inspiring. Thank you for that and making us all face our challenges and realize that maybe…just maybe…cycling is not everything. Light them up Alex!!

I root for the guy, but man… have come across him at multiple locations and the dude will not give a wave or respond to a hello. One day I will though. It’s my life mission now.

It’s a really weird thing when people know you and you don’t know them. It can take some time to realize that people are addressing you, even when they call you by name.

Yeah, it’s not a big deal. Dude is at work, I just thought it was funny.
