AI, plans and sickness?

Hi, I am trying to follow the plan created by AI. I got sick and it has been 8-10 without any training. I expected my plans to adjust but it did not. I will adjust myself but should there be an option to adjust automatically after sickness ?

Nope, you don’t need to do anything. You added your Sick Training Annotation already, so as soon as you start training you should start things adjusting

Hello. Im in a similar situation. I have been sick this week and not been able to ride. I plan on riding tomorrow but the planed session is way to hard for what I am able to do. Should I just select something easier. Also I did not understand what you meant by ā€œSick Training Annotationā€ How do I let the system know I am sick? Thanks

After so many days without training it should adjust to a much easier ride after a period of sickness.
On the right side of the calendar it is an ā€œAddā€ button. There you can add ā€œIllnessā€ and the days you are sick and it will adjust.
I will swap with an easier ride when starting again. I’ve had a bad cold with a lot of coughing and mucus in my airways. So I’d like to start with a short session without putting pressure on my airways.

Ok got it. Thanks. Interestingly it still has my first workout back as VO2 MAX. No way I can do that. I will have to adjust the workout

Maybe you aren’t recovered from your sickness yet. Add another sick day.

In the same boat. Adding ā€œillnessā€ one day at a time as I skip workouts but not seeing a change on the next scheduled workout. It’s easy enough to shorten it or just do a low intensity workout instead. Was hoping that the AI would auto-adjust. Or is it thinking ā€œyou aren’t ready to come back until you can do this anaerobic Tabata style session. Doing some recovery work is not going to make you faster but could keep you sick longer. Keep resting until you are ready to go all out.ā€

I’m not sure about the latest and greatest version, but in the past the reason for time off wasn’t taken into consideration by the plan, only the fact that it was time off. Whether it was just Time Off, Injury. or Illness didn’t matter. The effect was the same.

I have some sympathy for the AI here…… ā€˜sick’ covers a huge range of states, and there’s no way for the system to judge whether you’ve recovered or not, or indeed how much easing back in you need. Sick could mean you’ve just had a 24 hour head cold or are just back from being treated in hospital with pneumonia or worse, it has no idea. The only thing it can do is assume you’ve decided you’re well enough to train again and go from there, really. If you feel the need to ease back in, then pick an appropriate workout and let the plan adjust your future workouts.

Fr me last week, I thought I was well started the hard workout abd quit when I realised I was struggling when I should’ve been fine. Marked it illness in the feedback and labelled the day sick leave. Two days later the next workout felt fine.

Totally. It applies to injury too. But, since TR gives the opportunity to specify a reason for time off, it might suggest it somehow utilizes that information in adapting a plan. It only adapts for the time off, and not any possible recovery from illness or injury.
