At 55+ i can admit i suck on ramp test and especially after having a good one running when a training pal came into studio stealing the connection to my Wahoo Shift bike since he had it last timeš
Lucky to have powermeters on all my bikes Road/MTB/Gravel and all activities as powerwalk, running etc. Goes into TR there ate tons of data available
My feel on the exercices is good exept from treashold which i suck in Vo2 max is way better.
I train without nutrition mostly on trainer and some period even in fasting with good strong feeling, no carb suckerš¶ exept from races or +3hrs rides
I have a feeling that its doing a good job, my FTP went up today from 312-317 and i have been able to do many good rides the last 3months, had a cold for 10 days but it came in like a good rest period after high volume training!⦠have also lost 9kg in 10weeks still increasing FTP with good feel, after a tuff job period and vacation my AI went down to 300w then when i came back good my FTP went 306-308 -312-317 feels not like its going bananas but quite moderate!
Increasing FTP whilst losing weight I believe is hard So as well as your FTP slightly increasing your W/KG is also increasing so the gains are bigger than you thought. I suck at ramp rests too and if AI FTP is working for you which it seems it is Iād stick with it
Sounds like youāre making solid progress! Itās normal for FTP to fluctuate a bit, especially after interruptions like illness or equipment issues. The fact that your Vo2 max is strong and youāre still feeling good on most rides is a great sign that your training is effective. Increasing FTP while losing weight and maintaining a strong feel shows your consistency is paying off. Keep an eye on recovery and nutrition for longer rides, but overall it looks like your plan is working well.
Well 43 is younger than 55. Did you suck at the ramp test when 43? I am older than you and donāt suck at the ramp test. You are only old when you use age as an excuse.
