AI/Adaptive Training plan for an actual GPX course

I’ve done an annual 200 mile race for the last 2 years. First year I used a Rolling road race training plan and this year I used the Gran Fondo training plan. The course is basically the same route point to point. I would love to be able to upload the GPX file of the course and have adaptive training or AI look at the course, my current (AI FTP) and then build a plan with my selected time as a goal. Best Bike Split offers something similar, but I have been successful using TR and would love to stay within that system.

For what it’s worth TR got me 20th place last year and I moved up to 8th place in the 2024 race.

Thanks,
Lee

Generally fitness isn’t built by a course profile per se. Fitness is gained by progressive overload. So, the course profile may dictate what the demands are (ie: long sustained versus short and punchy) but that’s about it. Furthermore, how you race the race and how the race plays out is another big question. Group and race dynamics determine what the fitness demands are, unless you’re just doing a solo TT.

As @MI-XC said, fitness isn’t necessarily determined by a single race’s profile. The profile of your goal event will shape your training – if the course has long climbs, you’ll focus on longer, sustained efforts, for example. If you were doing a road race with a ~5min climb each lap, you’d focus more on those sorts of VO2 efforts in your training.

That’s why our plans focus on more “general” event types – that way, they’re applicable to any kind of race/course an athlete might be targeting.
