For anyone thinking about using the older (non DUO-Shi) Favero Assioma PM axles with one of the Shimano pedals listed in this thread by retrofitting the DUO-Shi Adapter Replacement Sets to them, the detachable/removable seal ring on the older axles is a larger diameter & of a different design than the one on the new Duo-Shi axles. And it seems that the seal is actually machined into the DUO-Shi axle. At least according to an article I read yesterday. Very nice detailed pic in the same article seems to confirm that.
Possible solution? Use a pair or more of washers the diameter of the older axle but smaller in diameter than the selected o-ring to properly maintain the o-ring in place in the DUO-Shi Adapter Replacement Set bodies. Hopefully. Any other ideas?
Hi if you’ve got a minute would it possible to measure from the centre of your cleats to the edge of your shoe? I’ve got a similar kind of shoe but as I spent quite a bit of money on them I’m loath to start cutting them. Thanks
45mm will leave similar clearance between shoe and pod and what you need between pod and crank arm. 48-49mm is rough actual. Working with 45 as the max should be safe and be cognizant of foot rotation when clipping out. .
I have the Garmin Rally pedals with both Keo (road) and SPD (MTB) pedal bodies. NICE solution. Expensive, but works great. I don’t imagine 3D-printed cleats would be strong enough - but maybe.
That’s great news as the centre of my cleats are actually at 43mm from the widest part of the upper of the shoe and 35mm from the sole so looks like I’ll not have to carve anything off! Thanks for taking the time to measure that. Cheers
To be fair the post you replied to was from 2019, before @themagicspanner and @madmaximummodulus pioniored the mod and before gplama read about it in this thread
Please note that the recent discussion here is regarding the Shimano Duo spindles, not the original ones. Don’t want folks trying to put Shimano pedal bodies on the original Favero pedals
For a few months now. Eventually they’ll probably offer a legit SPD pedal but there are options for other Shimano bodies that fit beyond the list they have.
Just got my favero uno pedals, and bontrager comp spd’s, and am shocked how easy it was to swap over. Also, no clearance issues with my shimano xc5 shoes. Looking forward to getting some rides in with them!
