I know a friend uses one and it does look cool. Ive no idea of its performance though, he’s like me not at the ‘meaty end’ of TT results and I doubt the helmet makes a difference
I’m considering buying a race chain for my A-race this season and have a hard time choosing between the silca pre waxed chain and a ceramicspeed ufo coated one.
Have you guys tried any of them or are there even more viable options out there?
I’ve used the Ceramicspeed UFO and a MSW treated titanium YBN chain. I have to say while both are expensive, the Ceramicspeed was 1/2 the price and the performance was about the same. I found them both to feel much smoother than a standard chain that I waxed myself and applied MSW race powder to.
New TT helmet from Specialized. Is it not on the website yet?

Looks like only the new Prevail and Evade are on the site.
Interesting Pinarello didn’t include this wheel on their launch post of the new Bolide F yesterday, but looks like PCW may have a new trispoke coming out. Man it’s deep…
Honking Healey
Going super fast in that position. Not Hanna power, but looks aero to my eye.
Straight out of The Martian.
The deep front wheel that the bike was presented with also is unreleased. It is clearly deeper than the Mach 7580
I actually like it although (or because) it has a massive Star Wars’esque look to it. If I get one I’ll probably should add some X-Wing decals to my bike (a good thing I have on-board storage for that light sabre of mine).
In the future I’d like to see jet-fighter-like head-up displays in lids like this. They offer the room for the electronics and a surface to project the data on.
What is the point of the head sleeve thing with Specialized TT5 helmet?
From what I have seen / read, it helps keep the helmet in place while wearing it. From the brief segment GCN had today, it appears as though the head liner is integrated into the helmet…hard to tell for sure.
If it is integrated, I’m not certain how you would wash it though….
ETA - WTH is going on with the visors in that new Kask helmet? We saw the helmet earlier this year in the UAE tour on Yates, but this visor seems new. It appears to have ridges around the edges, which seems counterintuitive re: aerodynamics.
The TT lid trend is certainly towards wider overall helmets….but damn they are all ugly AF.
You can say that again.
Hard to beat the POC Tempor :-0
I wish some manufacturer would create a helmet that makes it easier to look out of ‘the top of’. Most of us these days are looking out of the top of our eyes, so why not create a helmet that maximises how much you can see…
TdF TT tech gallery.
Just requested the GP5000 TT TdF on BRR. Really interested in seeing how fast it is.
If it rolls as fast as the CorsaSpeed, but has the aero perks of a GP5000, it’ll be the fastest non-track tire out there.
Iam still looking for a good helmet. I have allready purchased the Kask Mistral in medium and it’s good for me, but i can change it for a large. I think about to do that after i see more and more bigger helmets.
The M is for 55-58 and the L is for 58-62. My head is 57. Do you think a L will fits and is it better? (more shoulders into the helmet)
the Kask Bambino Pro ridden by Tom Pidcock and Adam Yates. To be honest, it’s not the model of helmet that matters here, it’s the sheer size of the thing. Neither of the Brits are large riders – Yates is especially diminutive, as expected for a GC contender – but the size of these helmets looked almost wider than their shoulders. The aero performance of this is quite clear. The larger the helmet, the more air can be smoothly displaced around the less-than-optimally-aero shoulders, and theoretically reduce the overall drag.
I think there is a difference between helmets that are specifically designed to be wide and helmets that are just a size up from what you should be wearing.
IMO, you should go with the Med.
@GregElwell Seen you’re on the start list for the Nat 100 this coming weekend, how you feeling for it? Weather forecast looking favourable (by Lake Dst standards at least) as of now!
